ejg223
Went after a sika stag or spike early in the morning. First thing I stumbled over was this fox on his way to the forest from the farm. He stopped for a moment at a fence. Was a quick shot at about xxyds. First time I used a all aluminium 5 baffle mod that weighs around 200grams. They really improve the handling of the rifle. edi
stag1933
Unlucky sod! I would not be boasting about that one as quick off-hand shots at 90 yards with a rifle, moderator and bipod do not make for accurate humane shooting. Probably buggered up your desire to grass a Sika stag also ! HWH.
Chris-NZ
I wouldn't think a fox at 90yds was Olympic-grade offhand shooting. Centre of mass with a .308 would be quite do-able and a hit from a .308 would more than make one cough. 200yds is a quite different story. 1967spud
What ever are you on stag, no where does he say he is boasting he is only relaying to us what happened. Also a moddy will add to a more humane shot as it can help cut down on flinch in the shooter if hes suffers from flinch. Nice picture edi and thanks for sharing with us, by the way what make was the moddy?

Wsm
The mod looks like either the Atec Modular or Mr Lincolns derivative to me
ejg223
Not quite sure what the upset is all about. Got a fox in a sheep farming area...wow. My main intention was to show that with modern equipment one has an advantage in the field. New all aluminium moderators that are available in the Uk either from Jackson Rifles or from Sportsman Gun Center will help with the balance of a rifle, especially if one needs to take a short range off-hand shot. As with any other shooting style this should be practiced. edi
6mmBR
Nice one Edi, I'm sure the lighter weight moderator helped you get on target much faster. Also with a mod the disturbance would of been far less, so the sheep are saved and if one was about you still may of grassed your Sika stag . Keep up the good work Dave

ejg223
Thanks Dave & F2N, in this place taking a stag is not that important. The poachers take enough of them so we rather concentrate on taking the ones with the bad heads or the odd spike. Come November we control the does quite hard. Yesterday I walked good 2 1/2 miles of boggy forest edge, got the fox right in the beginning and came across about 8 does and calves from there on. Some within 20yds because of the strong head wind and high grass. edi
