1967spud
IF your using it along side exbal it might be nice to know humididty and air pressure , which some off the all singing all dancing will tell you
sean c
I have the kestrel 4000 it has all the features needed (maybe more than needed) and it was a reasonable price because i bought it from the US.
Alycidon
I have a yellow one, from Sinclair maybe a bit more basic than most. Had it 6 or 7 years and never a minutes trouble. Cant remember though if its Skymate or Kestrel, I think the former but would need to check. A

Ronin
Have a Skymate - similar to Kestrel, folds away when not in use. Measures everything you need and pretty reasonable price too.
ds1
What you intend to use it for mainly may have some bearing. For field the 'wheel' tacticool type are more compact and offer othe useful info, temp etc. My Minox is fine...but I would prefer a Kestrel 4000nv also. For target shooting the much cheaper cage type, which are a bit larger may be better.....you don't have to hold them into the wind, the idea is to set them on you tripod with your spotting scope (they have a tripod adapter and also tie a piece if ribbon to it, the ribbon gives wind direction and meter the value, think they give an average value and temp also......cost about 20 quid. For me the only must have features are average wind value and temperature. David.
