PRS - Clarification sought

So I have been looking into this precision rifle shooting, toying with the idea of giving it a go.

From what I can see there is the Precision Rifle Series UK, GB Precision Rifle Assoc, and the UK Rifle Series and possibly others.

Can anyone explain the difference between them?

Thanks in advance

So they are 3 different organisations.

PRS UK are affiliated to PRS, GBPRA to the IPRF which are both international bodies with world championships/finales.. each have slightly different rules in terms of what divisions there are etc.

To my knowledge the UK Rifle Series is held by Gardeners Guns and isn't just PRS but a mix of Rifle comps.

Come give it a go 💪🎯

Similar things

PRS UK matches count towards the Precision Rifle Series UK leader board and finale - The top 5 overall get spots at the PRS finale in the US. PRS UK matches also feed into the GBPRA National leader board, from here the top shooters per category earn their place on the British team to shoot in the IPRF (International Precision Rifle Federation World Championships).

The GBPRA exists to develop Precision Rifle Shooting in the UK and send a British team to the IPRF world champs, both centrefire and rimfire.

Best thing to do is jump in to a match and get stuck in, there's every chance we'll see more PRS matches at Bisley, held over winter and organised by the NRA so there'll be more options to ring steels!

One odd thing about PRS is that none of the organisations are capable of sitting down in December and agreeing a schedule for the following year. Most disciplines that I shoot work out their programme up to a year in advance. Publicising a shoot a week or 10 days before it's happening means that many folk can't attend because of prior commitments.

More folk would participate if it was better publicised.

Last year it was November the PRS UK calendar was announced on social media and put on the website, which made planning our year of fullbore competitions simple. :)

I note that you haven't posted a link to the website in your reply. Also, many shooters don't go anywhere near social media. This branch of shooting sports is not doing enough to get more folk involved.

You're correct, I didn't include the website link as I was doing other things whilst replying. Quite the contrary to getting people involved as the numbers seem to be increasing each time out and the national leader board numbers keep growing. Like most things shooting it just takes a quick google, or making contact with the clubs/organisations actively putting on events, it's in everyones best interest to increase participation numbers.

The PRS UK website has all of the dates on and here's a link to it. :)

https://www.precisionrifleseries-uk.com/matches/

The GBPRA events link with the next few confirmed rimfire and centrefire matches on can be found here

https://www.gbpra.co.uk/uk-precision-rifle/gbpra-events/

I dare say more events will be added here as the organising clubs inform the GBPRA of their dates.
