Hi guys any advice please the newly purchased 6.5 x47 full length resizing die barely pushes back the case shoulders.Im using an rcbs press and have adjusted the die according to the instructions.Ive read you can reduce the stack height of the shell holder effectively allowing the die to push back case shoulder more.Is this right? Regards Jonathan

Need to understand what you mean by 'barely'.....you only need to bump shoulder by .001 or .002 thou ...do you have a comparator to measure what you are getting?

Hi guys the fired brass will rechameber,Im unable to resize back to virgin brass dimensions as measured with using headspace comparater. The fired brass seems to grow about 0.0003 of an inch however the primers are still in wich may exagerate this figure regards jonathan

Virgin brass is generally a one-size-fits-all, the brass you've fire formed in your chamber only needs the shoulder bumping back enough so it still chambers after being full length re-sized, if the brass will chamber after being full length re-sized then you don't need to bump the shoulder back any further.

In fact as you have a comparator you can reference the re-sized shoulder against a fired case and back the die out to reduce the amount of bump to only get 1 to 2 Thou" as mentioned above, this will give you a better fit and reduce the amount of stretching the case does when fired.

How did you manage to measure 0.0003 of an inch? I toil to measure less than 0.001 of an inch. Regards JCS

Virgin brass is UNDER saami spec, dimensionally, to ensure it will fit any gun. A full length sizing die will only ever put it back to SAAMI spec.
