Powder choice

I am looking for advice regarding powder choice for a 7X64 Brenekke. This is a hunting rifle that will not see strings of fire so I am leaning in the direction of the high performance powders such as RL17.

My concern lies with temperature tolerance. I intend to shoot a 160gr bullet from a 575mm length barrel. So I'm already at a disadvantage and wish to achieve the best performance possible to help beat the wind.

I think you'll find RL17 (Elcho 17) and RS60 a bit too quick.

Here's an output from QuickLOAD covering powders of a suitable burning rate and high loading density. Rated from highest to lowest velocity at the normal working pressure (52,666 psi, or 363 MPa).

I would say Viht N560, but be careful there is no free lunch it will be a barrel burner especially with N560 or other high energy double based powders. And no not temperature stable.
