Just saw a local NZ advert saying due to the MK4s being military , they will stop import/export at the end of this year .

Donot know if this is just New Zealand or its wider , and not sure if thats US GovT or a Leupold choice .

Chris: I don't know if it's the Government directly stopping the shipments, but I do believe that for a while it has been illegal to ship abroad any item currently under contract by the US military. Leupold has probably decided to toe the line.~Andrew

"Leupold and Stevens riflescopes are controlled for export and import, by the U.S. Department of State under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations [ITAR] (22 CFR, Parts 120-130) and the Department of Commerce under the Bureau of Industry and Security Export Administration Regulations, EAR (15 CFR, Parts 730-774). Depending on what type of riflescope you are purchasing would determine what type of license is required. Our riflescopes are a restricted item and in order to ship from the U.S. you must comply with the regulatory license and documentation requirements."

Leopold are discontinuing the Mk4, except for continuing a service for existing customers such as US Army.

That's all, in the same way AI doesn't sell the AW anymore to new customers, but if you are an existing customer such as Police or Military, then you can still acquire as required
