Mtu profile barrel on rem 700 action

Recommended Posts

No technical issues, there are thousands of Rem 700s out there in that exact config. The real question is why? It is way heavier than necessary for either of the calibres you mentioned, a Rem Varmint profile would be more than adequate, with no loss of accuracy.

I have a Bartlein M40 profile on my Ronin smithed 6.5x47 on a R700 action which I think is similar

Works fine but is a big lump! I do stalk with it in certain situations with a biathlon sling. If I were choosing the components again I would have a lighter profile a la sendero profile

I'm getting a straight taper down to .900" at 24" on my .260rem over the coming month or so. Imagine it's not going to be light....

Gary,

I put an MTU on a 308/Rem700SA years ago, just too bloody heavy/chunky.

If I was concerned about muzzle flip then a suppressor or break would sort this.

Heaviest barrel profile I've used recently was a heavy Palma on a 7mmSAUM, my choice for 243 or 6XC would be a med Palma (as per AI's).

But in answer to your OP - 'yes' it 'could' be fitted
