brown dog
Grateful for any recommendations for as to the best 50 quidish red dot or Compact scope on a weaver base. All that seems to be available in UK is Hawke or Walther. Is there anything else out there? Thanks! It's to go on my new 22 -that I bought, err, so that my children could use the adjustable stock. (Convinced? Neither was my wife.) [The S&B is over the top (...but I liked the way it looks!) -hence the search for a tidy compact scope]

brown dog
All, Thanks! This seems to be a case of choosing the least shite! Also (rather mucking fuddlingly) seem to be the same optics on sale with drastically different prices depending on which name is printed on the side - are the all the same? : Barska £80: ebay (UK) £30: ebay (Hong Kong) £9: Walther £50: Are they all from the same factory?! How do you choose!? Quite like the look of the Hawke (£20) -anyone used it?:
Alycidon
That looks a tidy bit of kit, trigger looks like it might be a 10/22 type, please tell more about it, especially how does it shoot. I tried red dots in the late 1970s with Aimpoint and I think Tasco. Once you get out over 50 yards the dot is so big it precludes accurate placement. A cross hair is an advantage but I suspect you may use this as a gallery type rifle hence the red dot. A
