A snipers story

Interesting, thanks.

It is in contrast to what I'm currently reading about WWII in "With British Snipers to the Reich", I'm not sure what to make of the author, he is a self confessed firearms enthusiast, marksman etc, I certainly recognise myself in that aspect of his writing. He is not actually a sniper. However his attitude to killing jars on my mind, for example the way he describes what is probably the first time he shot a man "an outrageously lucky shot" at a running German with a No4 with open sights at 3-400yd. He makes no bones about the fact that the man was unarmed at the time and running away! His being in uniform must have satisfied the rules of engagement of the day I guess, but it sounds bad now.

Taking fire was clearly a bad thing in his book, but killing the enemy, even when it served no direct military purpose, was all good fun.
