sean223
Hi all. Was wondering if it's possible to change a single shot action to a floor plate or mag conversation? And if so is there much involved in doing it, money ways etc. Cheers.
MrCetrizine
I'm no gunsmith but I'd say it depends on the action. I'd imagine some would become too weak if they had bits milled out. If it were possible, you'd be looking at several hours of milling and finishing by a skilled smith plus new parts then a trip to a proof house. I suspect it would be cheaper to buy a shot out rifle with a good donor action that fits the bill.
6.5shooter
Yes its possible, I have a 223 rpa which was converted by rpa before I bought it off the original owner. I would guess it would be a costly affair, be more cost effective buying or building a new rifle id guess.
The Gun Pimp
Anything is possible but in this case not really feasible. Apart from the expense, the action may distort when you cut a large hole in the underside. Solid-bottom single-shot actions can be more desirable than repeaters to those wanting an action for an accurate rifle, so it might be better to sell and buy what you want.
