Hi Guys and Gals,

In trying to make up my mind between the following three barrels:

Bartlein Barrel , .308, 1:10 Twist,5r, No.11 Contour, Med.Palma , 31"

OR

Shilen Barrel, 30 Cal (.308), 6 groove1:10 Twist, Match HP 32"

OR

Krieger Barrel 30cal 1-10tw #17 HV (5R) @ 31" 1.250 x .900

It's to go on my Accuracy Int. AE for F-Tr shooting out to 1000 yards. As it's an AE weight is an issue hence the palma profiles.

Bartlin is a medium palma but has the 5R rifling.

Shilen is the heavy palma, but is not the select match grade.

Krieger ?? I don't know ...

any opinions????

I've recently had Mik Maksimovic fit a 308 Bartlein medium Palma, 1:11, to my Swing TR. I'm really made up with it.........first day out at 1100yds, with aperture sights, 10/12 shots inside the 4 ring.

And as a bonus, the barrel shows little or no sign of fouling. This is possibly down to it being cut rifled and lapped..........a nice bit of kit.

I'd go for the heaviest profile. All are respected makes. Be prepared to chop it an inch or so if needed to make weight. Remember, the last GBFCA League shoot - at 1000 - 1200 yds - the F/TR Class was won with a 28 inch barrel.
