walkabout
What would be the ideal Barrel length for a 6x47L Rifle? It will be used out to 600 with some "Fun" 1000 yard work. I am not woried about weight, and will be shooting 105 Bergers or 115 DTACS. The barrel is a bartlein 1-8 straight taper, so a stiff profile. 6mmBR
If weight is not an issue I would make it as long as the blank could finish at. My 6x47 has a 30" barrel and I get good velocities using its favourite powder N160. Reloader 17 works great to and you can get impressive velocities with this. Personally in an 8 twist I would stay away from the DTAC and concentrate your efforts on the 105's as they shoot great. The DTAC may just give you stability issues. When I use them the barrel I have is a 7.5 twist. Have fun Dave.
The Gun Pimp
If I was building a 6x47 for F Class or 1000 yard benchrest it would have a 28 inch barrel - heavy profile (one inch at the muzzle) but bullets would be 105/108gn Berger.
