.260 remington powder

Recommended Posts

My mate has just got a new .260 target rifle.

He has some 123 and 139 grain lapua scenars and would like to know what powders to try.

The Hornady manual has a good graphical layout and I use it as my main reference for reloading the 260 Rem. Also see -

I have found H4350 to give the best results in mine, accuracy has been damn near identical with both H4831sc and RE17 too but velocities were low with the 4831 and RE 17 was too inconsistent batch to batch although achievable velocities (NOT what i used) were as expected very generous!

Your gun will like what it likes but all powders so far suggested are good contenders although i wouldnt personally bother with reliader 17 again, N160 is very close to 4350 and will probably work out the cheapest although i havent cooked it in a 260 personally.

i used Vit 550 in mine with 123grn Scenars with good results

+1 for N550 with 123 grainers and N560 with the 139s... both shoot beautifully out of my 3 260s

I use N165 for my stalking load of Hornady 129 gr SPs. I also have had success at targets with N165 and 140 gr A-Max. Currently using N165, H4350, RL-19 and H4831SC. A couple more links to browse.
