Hi,

I would suggest the .260 Rem. Reasons? Availability of quality components, ease of loading, suitability of different bullet weights, proven long distance performance, good barrel life,

I think we really do need a definition of 'best' :) in raw performance alone, 243 or 6mm 'heavy' runs rings around anything else.

In barrel life alone, 308 wins.

'Best' isn't a compromise calibre unless it's called 'best compromise'

Great! I'm right !

BD , your over thinking it ! It was just shooting the that which promotes growth and vigour at the range this morning with someone :D I've got 260 and 308 and love them both but for hits at long range my money would be on the 260 but in the old one rifle situation I'd go with my 308 every day ?
