terryh
During a business trip last week I dropped in to see Terry Cross of KMW308 for a BS/beer/deep fried alligator etc. and to see what he had going on rifle wise. For those of you who’ve not heard of Terry before he is noted in the tactical shooting ‘world’ and also as a producer of fine tactical rifles – 70% of which are is use with police and US Marshal Departments throughout the US. Mr Cross ‘at home’ with one of his standard LEO rifles – this one from Oregon in for overhaul. Unfortunately his workshop was being rebuilt after a falling tree prompted a re-organisation, but I did get to look at the bedding block that is now standard fit in his Sentinel stocks. The machined block if molded in at birth and allows an action to be bedded without any compound. The ‘bottom metal’ pulls up against this block to form the ‘pillar. Terry does not claim it is any better than the traditional pillar bedding but ‘just as good’ and he will no longer be doing pillar bedding. The insert has been in the field and tested in all conditions with good results. Also under development is a non-thumb-hole version of his stock, bit more to go on this Had a quick visit to his local PD’s range where he instructs, from left to rifle, 360 deg pit with movable walls etc. , carbine range, 25 station pistol range with turning targets, helicopter for rappelling practice, zip wire over a pond (apparently fun to put into matches) and off camera to the right a 300 yard rifle range – this range is open to the public, scouts etc. Terry is a the owner and sole worker at KMW, he produces around 80 new rifles a year and overhauls quite a few more for different police departments. This and training keeps him pretty busy. For more information on KMW see his web site: http://kmwlrs.com/ Brgds Terry
