You are paying the shipping costs. If the receiving dealer wants to accept it, enter it into their register then store it until you collect and book it out to you for free, then that's their choice.
Some will charge you for that because why would they do all that for free? They aren't making anything from the sale.
The trick is to build up a good relationship with your RFD (normally by spending money with them) and then get the service free hopefully quid pro quo.
Cheers, Thats fine, in that case I wont use the dealer down the road, but one of the clubs I shot at ( and pay subs!) the chairman is an RFD.

If I buy a gun and get it shipped to an RFD, and it costs say £35, should I expect the dealer i pick it up from to charge anything on top? ( infact just how does this shipping thing work, who do i pay for instance?)
cheers

Quick update Ive now found the following data for RS52 &.223
46gr start 24.4gr 895m/s max 27.3 1025/ms
55gr start 23.8gr 869m/s max 26.4 979 m/s
What Velocities were you after?

Guys Ive got some RS52 that I was going to use exclusivly for 6.5CM, however I've been given some Matchking 52GR HPBT that should work well in my old Tkka M55 and Ive got plenty of old brass however Im not sure the RS52 is suitable with these light bullets, and I cant find any load data. So are they a Match made in Heaven or a complete non starter?

Thanks Guys,
Definalty Mils, ( I'm a physicist 🙂 ) and I already have an FFP scope on one of my rimfires ( a falcon) which I like. What concerens me more is will most scope have enough "clicks" to get me from a zero at 100m out to maximum Bisley distances and maybe beyond?

Hi all,
Im off to the NEC this weekend to pick out a new 6.5CM for myself. Ive got a fair idea of what i need in the rifle, but I dont have much idea about a scope to go with it
Any suggestions on what i should be looking at in the <£1K range?
TIA

Ive been told by SHMBO not to use the tripods I have, ( they are Gitzo's so may be appearing soon on an auction site).
Im assuming a Manfotto 055 is the way to go, but what head to go for?
PS: Apologies for the potential thread hi-jack! but it seems relevent.

Very interesting.. Ive got a bit of a neck problem and after a couple of dozen prone rounds it can start giving me a bit of jip.
I was thinking of getting a foldable shooting table, but the cheap ones look very flimsy. However I do have a couple of ex ENG broadcast tripods. I think i might look at converting one of these.

thanks for all the suggestions guy, I will certainly investigate them.

All they have to do is move the decimal point one place to the left and I'll take it 🙂

After having to trek across a very boggy Bisley this AM with all my gear (All of Century was set to 300m) I feel the need for a wheeled range box. I think i like the idea of a tool box with drawers so I don't have to empty everything out to get to DOPE cards etc..
Any recommendations?

Anybody know anyone who can replace welded-in zips in a much loved down goretex jacket?

Guys Ive got a slot on my ticket for a 6.5CM that I'd planned to use for long range target shooting.
However browsing on Guntrader Ive seen quite a few benchrest and custon riifles I fancy at reasonable prices in the 6mm calibres. However allthough I will reload when possible, I'd really like the option of buying factory ammo (or custom made?). So my question is can you buy any of BR 6mm favourites calibres in the UK?
TIA

Anyone know where I can get a couple of neoprene covers for scopes about 16inches in Length? Nothing fancy as cheap as possible. All the ones on fleabay seem to be to short.

Let us know how you get on with the Sabatti, I"m considering one in 6.5CM. ( even if I prefer the aesthics of laminated stocks)

Martin,
I'm the range officer at the Reigate range this coming Sunday morning (10th). You could pop along if you wanted to, though I might be rather busy running the range. If not some other time.
Let me know if you want some help?
Neil
Hi Neil, I was supposed to be shooting Clays this morning at Bisley but thats now been cancelled, so I may well pop in and say hello.

yes please.. If its 55grain or less.

Gents, Im thinking to retiring to Alnwick. My fishing and Clay Shooting Hobbies are well catered for in the local area, but Im not sure about rifle shooting.
Are there any 600min ranges in the area? ( closer than Eskdalemuir)
cheers

Hi Martin,
Is see you're based in Reigate. I'm in Horley and have quite a .224 bullet collection, along with reloading and testing gear.
Do you go to the Reigate Miniature Rifle and Pistol Club? I could meet you there, or you are welcome to meet up if you want some help with reloading your Tikka M55.
Neil
Thanks for the offer, and to everone else for the advice. I'm a bookham man Im afraid, never been to the reigate club, but would be happy to meet up there if they allow guests.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Riffe is a Tikka M55, with a adjustable target stock, ( weighs a ton!)
Usage exclusively target.. barrel I was told is a 1/12, but the internet seems to think its a 1/14, and when i try to messure it seems to be somewhere between the two?
As a beginer Im more interested in the learing the mechanics of reloading and load testing rather than absolute accuracy.
-
Ok so im almost ready to dip my toe into the world of reloading.
As this is all new to me whats the best place to buy small quantities of bullets, primers and powder, so i can experiment a bit and work out what works for me. ( with a .223 M55)
cheers

Shot at Bisley this Morning, (a bit of clay practice) I then popped into Fultons to buy some small rifle primers, all sold out.
Thr gent serving reckons its been one of their busiest weeks ever for reloading supplies, Working from Home obviously means Loading at home?
