I think the rule is that anything classed .338 cal is a no no.
I have a .338 Norma Mag and that’s seemingly a no. If that’s the case, then I can only think anything .338cal,  like a .338WM, 33Nosler, .338-06 etc are also all no no.
It makes no logical sense what so ever. By their rules even a .338 Federal (308w case necked up to .338cal) is a no no due to ‘safety’ reasons.

This concern was one of the main reasons why I ditched the dry tumbling in favour of US.

I would always use nitrile gloves when handling the brass afterwards to remove media stuck in flash hole (use a toothpick) and wipe cases with a cloth to remove fine dust film on outside of case.

It was this fine film of dust that I hated floating around. You get it when the machine is running and when opening the lid, but definitely noticeable when wiping cases down afterwards.

And it’s not just the leading, it’s all the other noxious chemicals that result from the primer and powder residue becoming fine dust too.

.224 Valk isn’t a .223 bolt face, requires a a slightly larger bolt face (6.8SPC or 6.5 Grendel). Not common in bolt action rifles.

Personally id explore a .22-250 but with fast twist and long throat to handle the 90gn + bullets. You can use good Lapua brass and a common .308w bolt face that way.

Not being funny, but adding the items for sale actually within the post title would help people know what it is you’re selling.

Just a thought.

Having seen some of the club shooters at Bisley, I am inclined to agree with their caution!

I remember once on a range, that I won’t mention, witnessing at least one shooter after me doing the HME test and failing to even get it on the target backer, let alone on paper and in the required box. I think they were about 3ft above the target. 🙄

You can dremel sand the front plastic spacer a bit to accommodate longer rounds. I’ve done this to two mags and works well in my .223ai with 80gn bullets.

To reiterate, the answers collated will help inform the research and product design phases of a new idea/product/service specifically in this area of interest.

This is for my benefit, as a one person start up, not on behalf of a huge commercial entity.

Yeah I think you’re right, it was my intention to work up some more loads in smaller increments as I’m sure I’m nearing the upper limit.

Was planning on 38.3gn and 38.5gn of N140. I think that’ll push me into the 2920-2940fps bracket, which works really well in my Defiance/Eliseo (also a 26” 1.8” twist Bartlein) and worked very well in a previous 24” long, 1.8” twist Bergara barrel on a Tikka. 

Not a .338LM but I have the .338Norma Mag (only 6% less case capacity) and I shoot 300gn Scenars in a 27” Bartlein 1.9-3” twist at 2800fps with 94.5gn RS80.

I think RS80 is a lovely powder in these big magnums. I’ve found it to be very clean burning and easy to get loads with SD/ES in single digits. Absolutely zero pressure signs.

Id definitely suggest its one for you to try!

I did manage to get to an indoor range to sight in and run the barrel in whilst going through an OCW process.

I think I will try a few increments higher as no pressure signs observed at all. I saw ES/SD numbers begin to drop and group size become smaller with less vertical as the charge upped as well.

So far I think my 38.1gn load is probably a good place to be, as it’s near the magical 2900fps which was a velocity that worked well in two previous 6.5x47 rifles I’ve had. Seems that velocity produces a good harmonic node perhaps??

The initial groups were not great, mostly my fault as the gun is new to me. I’m more akin to a 2-stage trigger and this single stage is very very light. And I’m also getting used to the vertical grip. The groups at the end I started to get more comfortable.
The second to last group is two groups. I kinda lost my aiming spot and so drilled two groups. My fault, not the gun.

The last group (38.1gn) had the first 3 all together, I edged the 4th out and brought the 5th back in. Could have been a much better group, again my fault.

All charges used 123gn Scenars, KVB-223m primers, VV N140 Powder and seated to 2.115” 

A couple more pics. I really dig the ‘Ryan Castle’ mag well cut (named after the shooter who suggested it to MPA). Makes mag changes just a bit easier.

The RRS dual picatinny and ARCA QD clamp is really helpful, allowing me to quickly slide down the full rail or switch between the ARCA rail or extended picatinny rail at the front (which btw can be reversed to provide extended ARCA rail).

And I do love seeing a nice ‘star’ pattern on the crown. Beautifully faced.

Back early afternoon. The traffic is likely to be getting busy once I hit Bristol & the Severn bridge. But worth it in the grand scheme of things if it means I actually get to go shooting🙄😭 😂

One can be purchased anytime.  I recently added one to our club so we can book ranges for our members

It’s a good idea...yet something tells me that it’s not been done with ODRC. I’ll ask though. 👍

Sorry to hijack, but I’m keen to attend Stickledown at Bisley. 
I understand the HME limit is 7000J, which is less than standard .338LapMag loadings (around 6,500J).

But one of the posts above state .338LapMag aren’t permitted. 
So is that the case, anything up to 7000J is permitted just as long as it’s not a 338?

If so, will that rule out my .338 Norma Mag (6% less case capacity than the 338Lap - equates to around 6000J)?

Ah ok, didn’t know that. Obviously I have my affiliate membership via ODRC, so I’ll have to get my own personal membership sorted before I book.

I have every other Friday off, so I’d like to take advantage of that and visit Bisley as much as possible. For too long have my beauties languished in the safe. They need to be broken out and given a good shooting!
