Last autumn, Hampshire sent out my renewal reminder 16 weeks before expiry date, and indicated that if they did not receive my application at least eight weeks before expiry date, and as a result were unable to process it  in time, I will need to lodge firearms etc. with an RFD.

So it SOUNDS that as long as they receive your application at least eight weeks before expiry date, you'll be OK..........they don't actually spell it out, though.

    Pete

That's fair enough.... But If you are away for 3 weeks before you see the letter you're already in trouble..... Then you're under pressure to get your Pest Control jobs up to date so you don't lose them... (Granted not the Dept's fault) Then your Doctor won't see you for a few weeks as it's not a "Medical problem) this puts me back! I even drove the 25 miles to drop it off by hand. And with a covering letter explaining it's only 4 weeks before my current certificates end. And the reason why. They just don't care!! I just got the generic email saying my submission was late 8 weeks late! (and if "they" (which they will) decide to F*** me over, then I bear the cost of lodging my guns at an RFD. How does THEIR problem become mine.... And at cost to me!!!???

Well that kind of statement foo's me over.....

But it really pisses me off, when I have Inside knowledge (Being Ex Police) of the fact that there are only 2 in the office when there used to be around 10!! Even the PC I gave my renewal to by hand to, told me there was only 2 in the firearms office at this time. And sometimes there's nobody!! How does that make it my fault????

  3. That is just ridiculous!! And shows what a general VERY poor service that Force can provide.....

I've just complained to West Mercia Crime Commissioner, and spoke to his "P/A". She said, "It seems quite easy to me. I'll just get them to issue a S.7 notice"

Fingers crossed.... I was told to call the Firearms Dept in a weeks time for an update... But I'm not holding my breath........

  4. Hi folks,

Here's my situation.....  I had a letter from my West Mercia Firearms Dept, stating I have to submit my renewal application at least 12 weeks early. Basically they have no staff....

I failed to do this for various valid reasons, but I still gave them "normal" 4 weeks to process my renewal. I have had an email from them, stating that because I did not send my renewal in 12 weeks before my current FAC/SGC runs out, they will refuse to issue me with a temporary S.7 certificate if they can not process my Certificates in time. They went on to say that If they couldn't do it in time, I would have to pay to have my "Guns" lodged at a dealer.

Is it fair/possibly even legal to refuse me a S.7 Temp permit because they don't have the staff to complete it in the usual 4 weeks?

Any constructive advice would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

  5. The shooting of that poor young girl is a dark cloud......

But from a shooters perspective, "things" will only get more difficult now this has happened.

She was "Allegedly shot with a hand gun".......

The news makes mention of 15 years to the day that the poor young Reece Jones was shot, with again with a handgun...

Yet, our news never mentioned they were shot with a hand-gun, which are almost impossible to get legally own for "us" legal owners......

Please don't get me wrong... I am very upset that this pretty young girl has been shot and killed. As I am upset by the lovely young Reece Jones with his whole future.

But the people, ( bar family and friends) will that will suffer, are US!!

And this is and always will be the case......

  6. Thankfully my GP is "Pro shooting rights", so I don't have an issue. I have to see him about a medical problem on Friday, and he asked me to bring my FAC and SGC renewal as well and we'll do both! He's a top GP, but I see problems in the future as he retires in around 12 months........ 😣

As has been said, It is YOUR right to a copy of your medical records, whether he is pro or anti shooting.....

But I have to say it really pisses me off, having to list my rifles, ammo limit and shotgun details, when they have them! They're just too lazy to check it themselves....

It has to be said, West Mercia Police are totally hopeless when it comes to knowledge about certificates.......

I had a letter telling me I had to submit my application 8 weeks before they were due to run out. And only then, will they issue a temporary certificate (S.7?) If THEY don't complete it in 2 months!!. But what happens (as is my case) I was staying with family in Cornwall for 3 of those 8 weeks! Along with not getting a Doctors appointment for a 1 week!  Which leaves me stuck for another week as their guidelines state, If I submit it without the Doctors opinion, It will be returned as "Incomplete"

So straight away, I'm going to be on the back foot as I'm only leaving them 4 weeks!!.... If THEY can't complete it in around 5 weeks, they state I will have to lodge all of my guns and ammo with a dealer! How unfair is that!!!

    Scare tactics????????

  7. I've only ever bought Starline brass in .233 around 2 years ago.... I found the consistency of the length to be totally rubbish!! It was all over the place.! As much as 10 thou to 20 thou difference!! I still haven't used it for precision shooting. But I will use it for general sighting in, and plinkin. Unless the neck stretches to use it for more precise shooting!. But I doubt it........

  8. Hi folks,                                            I'm after some idea of the torque settings on the Allen bolts holding the air valve assembly of my non regulated Daystate Air Ranger. 25 FAC at around 45 ft/lbs. Having stripped it and replaced the seals,    I'm trying to get an idea of an approximate torque settings on the hardened steel allen bolts as per the attached picture. Understandably Daystate are relluctant to depart this information. I can make an educated guess going on how hard they were to remove. But some constructive information would be appreciated.    Chaz.

    Morning Chaz.

I think that the Tika will probably be metric as its European, the MDT stock is Canadian hence the 1 3/16 x 16tpi, if you bought a MDT chassis for the Tika it would fit on that, but that's gonna be extra expense for you, the only thing that you'd save on is the stock as its half price.

Thanks for your honesty Mouse. I'll probably have to buy a new chassis. As I'm partly disabled and just can't walk about with my Tikka TAC1 as it's just so heavy..... It doesn't help being a folding stock. Although it's superbly made, It's just extra weight... I'll have to save up for a one piece chassis system. Thanks again.

    Chas.

  10. As above really, I'm in the middle of changing the seals on my Daystate (FAC) Air Ranger in .25 Cal.

I've been told to replace the seals dry, by some, yet others say they last longer, and fit on more smoothly if I use a very small amount of silicone grease.

I'd appreciate some constructive opinions/ experiences as to the better way forward. I'm more inclined to think a small amount of silicone grease would aid fitting and sealing??.

    Cheers

Hi there, the thread size is 1-3/16" - 16tpi

That doesn't really explain much to me I'm afraid....

All I know is my TAC A1 in 6.5mm and  is standard....

I don't even know if my TAC 1 is compatible with Magpul stocks and forends as the original stock items are sooo Heavy!!

I was thinking of just buying a complete 1 piece chassis, that's a lot lighter......

  12. Hi folks, I need some advice to amplify the music from my phone, and my laptop computer to my earphones.....

I'm using Sennheiser earphones, but they they can take way more volume. But my phone and laptop just will not produce it. I don't want to make myself def, but the volume through the head phones is pitiful.... And I'm not into music gadgets like that so would appreciate some advice on a small amplifier between my phone/laptop to my earphones.

    I'd appreciate any constructive advice,.

    Cheers

  13. I have an FAC Daystate Air Ranger in.25 Cal. When I fire it I feel a blast of air come towards my Face?? Also, the gun loses air from full to half within 2-3 days.

I'd like to know if anyone has serviced an Air Ranger themselves and get some constructive advice??

My last result is sending it to Daystate. But I've serviced a few PCP's and have never had a problem.... So would prefer to do it myself....

As it's FAC, it would also cost me a lot to send it and receive it via FRD.

Any constructive advice would be appreciated...

    Cheers.
