Agreed, I would recommend them for all shooting items and I doubt that you will find the same cheaper anywhere else. Wish I was aware of them when I started shooting, would have saved a lot of money.

Do I subscribe to the current topic of "climate emergency" - no, especially when we have the liberal elite (i.e. Bono, Harry and Megan, Leonardo DiCaprio, etc.) telling people what they should be doing whilst flying around the world in private jets!

I am of the opinion that we should all use less resources, recycle as much as possible, etc. Although, I do not support the eco mentalist nor can I abide groups such as: Extinction Rebellion, Green Party Insulate Britain (I cannot understand why these people are not being arrested and imprisoned), etc.

I am only a target shooter and I have taken out insurance with these for quite a while , but probably worth a look and not too expensive.

A very valid question. I have shot my factory Remington .223 (MDT stock and TrigrerTech 1.5lb trigger) to 600yards (off a bipod) and I wouldn't have thought that a .223 with a 24" barrel would be accurate enough at 1000yards (I achieved 133mm for a five shot group at 600 yards  - I am sure that others would achieve a better result). I use 69gr Sierra MatchKing and I am getting 2881 ft/second which equated to 1430ft/second at 600yards (on the electronic targets).

Although I have been advised that Laurie Holland  had a .223 for 1000 yards but it had a long barrel and he used heavy bullets.

41.5grs: 2616, 2612, 2616 = 2614.6ft/s at barrel (this was the most accurate load in my RPR);

42.0grs: 2587, 2634, 2636 = 2619ft/s at barrel

42.5grs: 2679, 2670, 2658 = 2669ft/s at barrel

43.0grs: 2700, 2683, 2695  = 2692.6ft/s at barrel

43.5grs: 2723, 2712, 2729, = 2721.3ft/s at barrel

 AI AT (26 inch barrel): 139 Scenars, Federal primer, Norma or Starline brass (large primer since my AI has the larger firing pin), using 43.6grs of Viht N160.

Obviously the choice is yours, but a custom rifle if you every wish to sell it is very bespoke (and may be very specific to one competition: i.e. FTR), whereas in my opinion a secondhand AI would always be worth a reasonable amount since there always seems to be someone looking for a secondhanmd AI.

I am an AI AT owner and I can wholeheartedly recommend it. I have 308 and 6.5CM barrels and they are easy to swop. I use it in a variety of different competitions (out to a 1000 yards), which is one of the main reasons I bought it. Although, as mentioned above you may wish to consider the new AI AT-X. For reference my son shoots an RPR (6.5CM) with a 24 inch barrel to 1000  yards, which is the same barrel length as the new AI AT-X.

What benefit do you consider the AI AX gives over the AT, obviously other than the ability to change to .338 (or similar). Is this something you really need?

MDT LSS - 22 (Ruger American)

Do any of you know the thread of the screws on the underside of an MDT LSS – 22 (gen 1) chassis? I would like to fit a front rest rider. I asked the the company (UK based) where I purchased it and they advised 10-32" UNF, however, after purchasing the screws (via Amazon), they don’t fit! Therefore, anyone know the answer?

I reload: .308, 6.5 Creedmoor (6.5 CM), .223 and 6BR.

Before I loaded anything, I asked someone I knew from one of the clubs I attend to SHOW me how to reload. I had mounted the press (single stage), then they showed me how to set up the dies (sizing and seating), etc. They then loaded a few rounds so that I could watch, then I loaded while they watched to ensure that I followed the process correctly. I also wrote the process down for when I was re-loading on my own next time. It’s Ok to watch YouTube videos, but you do need to watch someone re-loading so that you can ask questions. One of my clubs (Diggle Ranges) runs a reloading course (run by the Gun Pimp on here) for those starting out loading which I found very useful, I attended it twice to see if I could improve my reloading process and pick up any new tips. Maybe worth asking at your club if they offer anything similar.

I would start off making a list of what you need (not what you want), you can always add to it later. As mentioned above, it can be an expensive process to start. I too reload with my son and it is an enjoyable process. We generally prepare the cases in batches (de-prime, tumble, size and trim) one day (for each calibre) then reload another day. Once all cases are prepared, it takes us about an hour (or just under about 50 mins or so) to make 50 bullets irrespective of calibre (although, we do a check of about 20% of the powder thrown by the electronic scales on the balance beam scales, which takes time).   

I started by reloading .308 (this does seem a common round to start with) then moved to the other calibres (6.5CM, .223 and finally 6BR). I am finding 6BR a tricky round to find a balance between velocity, accuracy and pressure signs (pierced primers [now changed to CCI 450]- but not a stiff bolt) at the moment, in fact, still working on the 6BR and not yet finalised a load.

I have a second focal plane S&B 12-50x56 PM II with P4 fine reticule on my AI AT and I can JUST make the light gun weight for benchrest. It is a heavy scope, but I do like it, very clear. However, at high magnification you may obscure the V bull since it is FFP, may be best if you could try it first.

I shoot at Diggle range and I don't recall (not saying that means no one is using them) seeing any F class shooters using  S&B scopes or first focal plane scopes.
