  1. On still days I've regularly put three shots into 1" at 100yds with this rifle using SK Match ammo.
  2. Great shooting Darrel, well done. Thats some achievement to break the benchrest 1" barrier for the first time in the UK.
  3. My own original Sako Finnfire P94S .22LR Ive owned quite a few of these while looking for the best I could find, this one is that. The bluing is spotless, not even a hint of rust anywhere, the wood had the odd small impression of love here and there but the rifle really is the cleanest Finnfire Ive seen. I didnt think I would ever sell this rifle but I doubt I've fired it in 3yrs so it would be better being with someone who will get the pleasure I got from using it. As accurate a .22LR as you will find - £600 I can email more pictures on request alan@alanmaughan.net
  4. Good condition and complete as originally purchased, £350 posted.
  5. I think this is good advice. Talk to the person you plan to use to rebarrel or build your rifle and tell them what you hope to get from their work in terms of accuracy, see what they think and also to what level they will stand by their work and what contingencies they have should you run into problems getting it to shoot. Ive found that most quality rifle barrels are better than the shooters using them in terms of both their ability to shoot well/consistently and also their ability/understanding of what it takes to develop a stable accurate load. I use mainly Bartlein and Kreiger barrels because they are world class and there is also a good supply of them in the UK, there are also some other good barrels available if you feel you need to look past the ones I mention.
  6. Im not shooting benchrest these days and have not used these scales in over a year so I guess its time they had a new home. Most would agree this set-up is about as precise as powder weighing gets for sensible money. Everything works perfectly as it should. £500 plus insured postage, thats a decent saving on new.
  7. What will you use the rifle for and to what distance?
  8. Im open to offers on this rest now guys. Its the best of the best and very hard to come by second hand.
  9. Guys, Ive got a Seb Max co-axial front rest for sale, its in very good condition. I bought it brand new from Foxy just over a year ago for £1150, its done one season of benchrest. Will take any forend up to 8" - Im looking for £900
  10. Sorry guys Ive just seen this thread. Matt, I think the guy was in Norway. I have tried the die now enough to feel that it made little difference to accuracy and in my opinion wasn't worth the effort if an improvement in accuracy was what you wanted. To buy cheap rimfire ammo then try to accurise it just doesn't make any sense considering the cost of even the best stuff. I have in the past found that different rifles have had a preference for SK Standard which have a target bullet rather than a hollow point, I did use the die to make hollow points and in that respect it worked and didn't affect the accuracy badly but it definitely affected the BC with more drop at 100yds with the hollow point than without. It did allow you to make some very aggressive hollow points than lost out on accuracy but would have been useful for 25yd ratting as they certainly hit hard but accuracy was poor at around 1"@50yds, the ore aggressive the HP the less accurate they were which stands to reason. The problem though is the point which makes the hole also had a habit of sticking into the bullet and on traction it loosened the bullet in the case. There was also a problem with the shell holder being made a bit too tight so some rims wouldn't fit in. Overall the idea seemed to be better than the reality. I sent the die back last summer with my observations and Ive heard nothing more, I also sent a PM last summer which wasn't replied to, I see LR1978 hasn't been back since July last year.
  11. Link doesn't work for me either
  12. This is a great addition to the forum, Im sure it will encourage everyone to upload more pictures and avoid the need for "PM me for pictures" in many sales threads. The only thing I would suggest you consider is increasing the single file size limit. 1000KB means some people will need to resize their images first and this alone will be a bridge too far for some in terms of their IT skills. Even if you imposed no limit you wont really find it a drain on server space, storage is cheap these days and you will most likely have loads of space. It might also be useful to consider making a short tutorial and then sending a link by PM to all forum members so they are aware of this feature, you could also set up an automated welcome PM that all new members receive which again contains the link on posting pictures. The more aware members are and the easier you make things for them the more they will provide extra quality content over and above what they do already. A good move.
  13. LR1978 sent me this tool for testing/appraisal. This summer has been a crappy one so far, it seems the wind has blown far more than normal and as such I have not been able to make any real meaningful comparisons. The only still evening I managed to do anything it appeared that the Tenex style flat nosed option may have shown an improvement over the ammo in standard form but not so much that I could say for sure. I will endeavour to do a conclusive test when the conditions allow.
  14. What rifle were you using bewsh and what were the conditions like?
  15. Thanks for posting these pictures, its good to see real world groups.
  16. I was out in west Northumberland on Mon, Wed & Fri gone, I had 26, 27 & 28 respectively. On Friday 14 of them came from sniping a single warren for maybe 10 minutes tops, there must have been 25-30 sitting out in the evening sun. The rest of the time I mooch around in the truck picking nice shots from the wing mirror or the roof of the jeep, I dont shoot anything unless its at least 50yds and all are head shots otherwise it becomes too clinical and not very sporting, I shot best on Wednesday when I never missed anything at all, ranges between 50-102yds, it was a very still evening so no need for wind adjustments and all the longer shots were lasered and dialled. My best this week were two at 104yds and one at 102yds. I also shot one at 96yds which was very steeply downhill so dialled in for 85yds and the impact was just behind the eye which was very pleasing. I take my two cockers with me and it gives them plenty of retrieves, Ive got a pup and she is 15 months so its great training for her. There really are a lot about this summer for me, I hope Im not rubbing it in here guys, its just nice to tell others when the shooting is good and the weather nice, its night like this that I wait all winter for.
