I had an issue a few weeks back with KVB223 primers in a Peterson SRP 6XC Case, one miss fire out of about 70 rounds fired that day. When I pulled the bullet the powder was scorched (some of it had a brown tinge) but had failed to ignite, load was 39.5 grains of RL17 and a 115 DTAC, powder was not compressed.

I'm going to try BR4 and CCI 450 next, been told that BR4 should be ok by several other users.

Very interesting and bizarre. I’ve shot well in excess of 5000 and not had one misfire.

I'm completely out of BR4's. I either buy some more or try the CCI 450 magnums that are half the price hoping that the accuracy is exactly the same so I don't have to bother redeveloping the load. Whats the difference between them as there both magnum primers....?

If any knows they will definately change the accuracy then I will stick with the BR4's.

My 139gr scenar load shoots that well I'm not prepared to risk it changing on a guess....

Who is likely to sell them at Bisley....

    Cheers No I deer

I don’t know how I missed this post Neil. I suggest you try Murom KVB223 primers.

I changed over to them for my 47L and my ES dropped. I use them for all my SR cartridges now.

  3. It’s thanks to this thread that I discovered my Amazon account has been hacked.

I went to log on to find the order for the calipers I mentioned so I could post it on here and couldn’t log on and a password reset email didn’t arrive. It took forever to actually get to speak to someone but, in short someone was using my account.

I had to cancel my card and everything. Until it’s sorted my account is supposedly locked. I dread to think what would’ve happened if I’d waited until I next actually needed to order something.

  4. Neil, I borrowed my father-in-law’s Mitutoyu callipers to compare against the ones I bought from Amazon for £24. There’s no doubt the MIT is better quality and there is a couple of thousands difference in measurement but I wouldn’t pay the extra £100 for the Mitutoyu.

The callipers I bought from Amazon auto turn off and are still on its original battery after nearly 12 months of regular use.

  5. I was just about to say that I’ll see you there this Sunday when you mentioned Saturday.

The first thing worth mentioning is getting there. From your location you’ll arrive via the M42. Come off at J9 and Kingsbury is we’ll sign posted. At the second round take the third exit on the B4098. After you go under the narrow bridge there are two turnings to the left right next to each other. Take the second. Follow the lane and the car park and club lodges are just after the 600 yd firing point.

As SMLE says, if you get they for 8 o’clock you won’t go wrong. Although I shoot with another club I have attended with ODRC several times and their range briefings can take place at the car park or at the 300 yd firing point. Whatever happens they will look after you . They’re a good crowd to shoot with.

Like the others have stated, do not forget your FAC and SSC. You will definitely be asked to show them. Good luck and enjoy.

One small tin of Imperial Sizing Wax lasts for a hell of a long time.

You’re 100% correct on that. I’m still using the tin I bought at tge shooting show when it was at Newark. How long ago was that?

RDF stands for Random damned flyer, or as someone else said there's a 3 in every box 😁

I do have a box of the 185 gr 7mm and they do measure quite uniform.

Thanks Ian. I omitted to mention that it’s a 308 bullet, not 7 mm. I’ll edit the post.

  8. An F Open friend of mine shoots a 284 KMR and has the reamer. He started on a straight 284, went to Shehane and then KMR. If you pm me your contact details I’ll forward them to him. I’m sure he’ll give you all the information you need.
