  1. Really? That’s a bit of a vacuous statement. All they are asking is for you, the shooter, to confirm that you have followed safe reloading procedures. That is not an unreasonable thing to ask.

If anyone on here has seen or completed the declaration you would not object to it.

It’s no more onerous than signing on a range and providing your FAC number.

  2. As one of those involved in organising the Birmingham Bisley, there was some initial concern about the declaration, but it is nothing onerous and it does not ask for specifics. Therefore, any load data remains in the privy to the person signing the declaration.

All it asks is that the shooter specifies which calibre is being used and which source the load data came from. For example, I stated .308 and the data source was Quickload and the Berger reloading manual.

They are currently £6,350 from a well known UK dealer and I’m letting this one go for £4,500 (price dropped from £4800). It comes with desert sand stock sides and a custom painted spare set. This is shown on the photo with the S&B scope for example purposes only. The actual scope fitted is a Nightforce NXS 8-32x56. This can be purchased with the rifle for £1100 complete with 30mm Tier One rings. I will sell the scope separately once the rifle is sold. Scope sold subject to the usual.1D2324D5-66D2-49C7-86AB-EEBD9287E148.thumb.jpeg.b77e92dabb686d77fcc7843fe07d3c7e.jpeg

Please pm me for more photos if you are genuinely interested. Tyre kickers need not apply.

  4. This thread is proving to be very interesting, especially meles meles light hearted technical explanations.

Correct me if I’ve misunderstood the bones of this, but reading between the lines it seems the consensus is that fire cracking in the throat has no real bearing on accuracy or barrel longevity. If that’s the case, what does?

A few of years ago I had a 1:12 twist barrel on my FTR rifle that was like a laser. I went the whole one season with a lot of competition successes. Then during a 300 yd comp at the Imperials the groups opened up wildly. What caused that?

I have every other Friday off, so I’d like to take advantage of that and visit Bisley as much as possible. For too long have my beauties languished in the safe. They need to be broken out and given a good shooting!

Catch, the M4 is murder on Friday’s, especially the return trip.

I did use one a while ago on the old rifle but as it is quite light I found that the unit tended to buck a little and having the side supports just gave it more overall control.  The rifle is the first one I have had made up and was originally for more PRS style so its shorter than ideal for F Class, but she holds her own and when I learn to shoot I will get a full build made up so no need to mess about.

Are you with the Dorset’s on Sunday?

Peterson brass superb in 260 (Improved )

Just about PRC velocities - cases are as good as if not the equal of Lapua quality

Re the quality, there is a video, published by Peterson, showing their manufacturing process. There is no doubt about the quality being top end.

Shush, I’m still hoping for a partial refund, which is highly unlikely, as you say given the time, but mostly as the seller thinks it’s ok to sell 2nd hand powder, on the say so of a third party, neither of us know and he’s forgotten his name.
The original intention of this post was to find out whether there is a way to ascertain if Vhit N150 can be told apart from other powders.
It’s only now, that I’ve replaced the rifle, that I’m faced with this dilemma, as up until now, I had thought I would just start out low and watch carefully for pressure signs and flinch as I squeezed the trigger. Now I’m faced with this prospect, I’m not so keen on the idea and now faced with binning
    over 1.5 kg of powder.

As a regular N150 user I’m trying to PM you but your inbox is full.

Secants, while sometimes have the accuracy edge, are known to travel transonic usually worse thanTangent. however the tangent gives up BC to the secant. Both important things to consider when its seriously long range. My favourite bullet in .308 is the scenar 167. Its a tangent bullet, doesn't have a wonderful bc, and is basically a glittery brick. It does go transonic/subsonic very well though. I've used it from a 20" AI at 1000 yards, and scored very well with it. Barrel length not suitable for such a range, but it works with that particular bullet.

I remember a post you wrote a few years ago about the Scenar 167 and Viht N150 combination, which is the Viht accuracy load so I copied it in my AW.

The jump is huge but it works “out of the box”.

That’s all I use in it now. Up to 600 yards I’ve not found anything to better it.
