Recently viking arms have taken over from gmk as main leupold importer, my mk4 has gone wonky, it doesn't hold its zero, I posted it too viking arms a couple of weeks ago, I rang them today to check they had recieved it, it sounds like the repair will be done in germany, my question is, can anyone tell me how long roughly theres was away for when gmk was in charge of the repairing service.atb swaro

AFAIK, it is Leupold in Germany who service their stuff in Europe, except for rangefinders. I met one of the Leupold German guys a few years ago at the Game Fair so it's probably not affected by the change in importers as long as Viking doesn't hang on too long before sending it to Leupold Germany.

My rangefinder is currently with Leupold service/repair in the US.

It was probaly 3 weeks ago I sent my mk4 8.5-25x50 to them,I sent it rmsd and yave the reciept in my wallet, think it was £11 which was insured up to £500,it was worth tuppence as it was, the lady I spoke to in admin didnt know if they had recieved it or not and said she would ring me back, from what she knew they had nothing in place yet.not sure if they are sent in batches when gmk delt with them, definately sounded like they would be using the same repair centre as gmk did.

a 3 week turnaround would be ideal bradders, should get my 6.5x47 back early next week and I will have 2 cf rifles and one scope, think I will end up buying a high mag falcon scope to get me by, I kind of wish I didnt sell the one I had, it was a great scope, had a nice recticle too, dialled click perfect out 1000yds and never missed a beat.

Interesting, didn't know Viking had taken over

The last repair I needed was done by Leopold in the US (without GMKs involvement) and it took about 3 weeks

Did you send directly?

I have a spotter that needs a service due to a spot of dust.

Seems that the German repair centre that I referred to earlier was LEUPOLD PRODUCT SERVICE – GERMANY

GERATE-SERVICE & MONTAGE, DIPL. ING. HARALD ROS.

I believe that they no longer do it and another recent -this week - internet post suggests -

Leupold are in the process of opening a brand new service centre in Germany, the tooling has already arrived and they are in the process of installing everything into the factory.

In any case, the communication and responsiveness of Leupold is top class. For that reason alone, I will keep buying Leupold, all else being almost equal.

To the OP, why not fire off an email to Leupold US and get their comments?

Hi scotch

I rang gmk for them to tell me viking arms are the main importer now, I looked up phone number, gave them a ring, i was told to give my details etc via an email and post the scope to them with returns on the parcel, i cant remember who i spoke too, they need to get things up and running asap because they will soon have alot there taking up space,

Hi dunc

I too rate leupold very highly, all my scopes are leupold,2x mk4's and a vxr.

ive emailed leupold maybe 6 times over the years through their website and never once had a reply.it wont stop me using probaly the best value for money high end scope.

Tiz a shame they go wrong which really doesnt do what it sez on the tin lol

I emailed Leupy a couple of months back about getting a Mk4 changed from M1 turrets to M5(moa/mil to mil/mil) and they said the scope would be sent back to the US for such work.....

Not sure why they didnt return my emails then

Can't say and I know it's not of much comfort to you, but they are normally really good at responding to emails.
