Chris-NZ
Here's a fairly sizeable red stag a mate shot last week. He was dropping it off to have the skull boiled etc when I grabbed a photo of it. His 7-08 put it straight down with a frontal shot through the brisket at 50m but it showed signs of getting back up so he put a finisher in it. BTW, 23 points so it must have been the offspring of some escapee farm animal. Chris-NZ

Chris-NZ
No idea Andy, didn't ask him but he's only having the better cuts converted into smallgoods. Shoots heaps of deer so can afford to be fussy. Speaking of size, a couple of years ago Richard "Hannibal" Hayes, a prominent chopper pilot in Fiordland, got a red stag that gutted went 250kg (550lb) on the scales. He's harvested tens of thousands from a chopper over the years but this was the biggest he'd ever shot. Might have had a touch of wapiti in it to be that huge.
