huntsman
Any lefties out there using right handed semi autos (shotguns)? Is this a good idea? Just tried it once and found the extracted shells a bit of a distraction. I know that there are a few companies that make dedicated left handed . But I lespecially liked the look of the berettas, but only come right handed.

(perhaps I've got to the bottom of my eyes-tight-closed flinch ) Are you actually seeing them or is it the 'thought' of them?

LONG RANGE CAPT
Huntsman, I shoot off my left shoulder with my Benelli M2 (10 shot) and don't have any worries about being distracted. However I always shoot it with safety specs, as there is a danger of flash back from the ejection port. Which I have seen and experienced on my Ruger 10/22. huntsman
Thanks lads for the replies, no plans to invest at the moment, lots of secondhands about but all right handed. Brown dog -yes it is the thought of the shell flying past. but if you can't see them you can't do this , check out youtube - "benelli shotgun amazing shots" around 40 secs point

wensleydale
I started with Beretta semi-autos (right ejection port) shooting from the left shoulder, and wasn't too affected by debris - though I wear protective glasses - then bought a dedicated left handed Remmy 11/87 which was better, but seemed very short in the stock. After repeatedly bashing my nose with my thumb I went back to a Beretta and never notice the spent case though it must whizz past my nose! onelesscharlie
Im a leftie and have had three right handed semi autos in the past. All was going well until shooting at crows coming in to roost almost directly overhead. Powder residue and whatever else gets discharged is not pleasant in your eye. Now have a left handed escort with a slight cast going the correct way for a change and it makes all the difference. ATB OLC
MarinePMI
Have a friend who's wife is leftie (more accurately, left eye dominate) and she shoots a Benelli Montrefealto(sp?) left hand version. Nice gun, and as I understand it, it's just a Super 90 with nice wood. The Benelli M2's come with the shims for a left handed shooter, as well as the option for the left handed recoil pad on the Comfortec stocks. This keeps the empty shells away from the shooter's face...
