Ballistol
Bit of a strange one but can anyone direct me to a U.K. based supplier for a .22LR shellholder? Thanks.
Ballistol
Anyone? I did find a supplier in Czechoslovakia but they won’t send as we are no longer part of the EU 🤷♂️ I was quoted £28 delivery for a £12 shellholder from the US plus whatever charges the U.K. imposes when it lands. If all else fails, I’ll have to try and make something, but it’s far from my preferred option.
1066
What sort of thing are you thinking of? I'm a hobby "maker". I can design, 3D print and machine an assortment of small parts. These are 5 and 10 round .22lr "Quick loader" with embedded magnets to attach to BSA Martini (or similar) target rifles. 3D printed or hand machined from aluminium. 1066
Ahhh - Am I barking up the wrong tree? Did you mean a .22lr shellholder to fit a press for reloading .22lr?

Yes, I’m in the process of trying to make a tool similar the Paco Acu’rzr for making hollowpoints from standard target ammunition and need the shellholder for the press ram. 1066
Got you - I thought the Paco tool didn't use a shell holder - with the head of the cartridge just resting on a flat surface, then pushed out after forming the bullet, a bit like a Wilson hand die. Yes, but I’d prefer it to operate from a shellholder a bit like the Waltz style die. There was an article on here a while ago which caught my eye, and I’ve never got round to pursuing it. If it was commercially available, I’d probably just buy one, but it disappeared without trace, so after being unable to secure decent quantities of hollowpoints I decided to have a crack at making one. Dellboy
surely the easiest way to foduce a hollow point would be to use a pillar drill (2 mm drill ) with the 22 supported by a collar ..
1066
To drill the size of the cavity that the Paco tools produce would significantly reduce the weight of the bullet - would that be a + or - point?

I’d like to keep the ballistics as close as possible to a normal target round, so prefer the idea of redistributing the lead rather than removing it. This will presumably affect the bullets B.C. but I suspect not to a great extent, however the ability to determine the shape/size of the cavity will provide another avenue to try and tune it.
