tonyshooter
I am relatively new to reloading, and I have a RCBS rock chucker press and associated RCBS dies. I will reload about 300 rounds of .243 cal ammunition per year and I will, I am told, require a tool to trim my cases to length. Can anyone recommend a tool / device for this purpose. Thanks. geek
There are a couple of different types: https://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Freloadboss.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2018%2F03%2FleeCaseTrimmer.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Freloadboss.com%2Fhow-to-use-lee-case-trimmer%2F&docid=Ud76EpxtGeMvQM&tbnid=L6wYj63BCjmR2M%3A&vet=10ahUKEwingoXUwe3mAhXRVRUIHR1FCg8QMwibASgBMAE..i&w=900&h=675&bih=935&biw=1920&q=lee precision case trimmer&ved=0ahUKEwingoXUwe3mAhXRVRUIHR1FCg8QMwibASgBMAE&iact=mrc&uact=8 and https://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fleeprecision.com%2Fimages%2FP%2F90670.jpg&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fleeprecision.com%2Fcase-conditioning-tools%2Fcase-trimming-tools%2F&docid=bsBoNI669RN8XM&tbnid=MGab-m1m3SQa3M%3A&vet=10ahUKEwingoXUwe3mAhXRVRUIHR1FCg8QMwihASgEMAQ..i&w=300&h=300&bih=935&biw=1920&q=lee precision case trimmer&ved=0ahUKEwingoXUwe3mAhXRVRUIHR1FCg8QMwihASgEMAQ&iact=mrc&uact=8#h=300&imgdii=Qb3X9O3Ej831QM:&vet=10ahUKEwingoXUwe3mAhXRVRUIHR1FCg8QMwihASgEMAQ..i&w=300 I initially used the first type, but found it a bit of a faff, when trimming 50 cases, so now I use the second link and it is quite easy. Mattnall
Reloading 300 or so per year you won't need to get a powered trimmer. Either of the above should suit you fine, after the first, possibly big, trim each subsequent loading thereafter should only have a smaller amount of brass to remove so not a big problem to do manually. johnnyb0_1
Wilson case trimmer, spendy but perfect results every time case is supported absolutely square to the cutter. Check out gavintoobs video of it on YT. Cheers J.
