Would you believe this?

Recommended Posts

My little 22-250 howa sporter has shot quite a few tiny groups.

This would be quite normal 5 shot 100yds

And these two shot's to check zero put a smile on my face

2shotpse-1.jpg

Then this happened, a friend joined in and had a go with my rifle... he is known to be an

excellent shot, but... I thought he was taking the piss. I'm still not sure if I should believe it, but

he did fire a fourth shot on a new target in exactly the same place.

(forget the 308 holes on the right)

3 shot 100yds??? maybe 0.75mm oval

I told him the rifle is for sale, he he

yes i would believe it,I had a 22.250 Tikka that shot a perfect 3 shot 1 hole group, sadly I didnt do it,I also saw a mate Sako 75 in 243 which i helped in reload shoot a near perfect 5 shot 1 hole

the question is WHY dont they ever repeat it :D

well done to your mate damm fine shooting

I reckon if one shoots long enough it might happen once.

Just thought he was playing a trick on me, like one in and two into the sand,

but I also didn't see him move off line while standing behind.

He really is a good shot, also did a tiny group with my 308 before.

Holy that which promotes growth and vigour Edi...I would say the guy has Skills....

BTW...was this with one of your Custom Stocks ?

308Panther

Pat, the guy has skills...... and destroyed my ego :D

Yep my stock, I'm just field testing a very light one with about 750g as it goes

on the rifle. Stock isn't glass bedded and no pillars.

Rifle is a standard howa tuned by roedale, has the factory barrel & trigger.

I would be proud as a peacock if someone were to shoot a group like that

with my rifle.....

Says alot for the rifle...as well as the driver.

Says alot more for a stock that isnt bedded too....

Pat, next up we'll try a brand new 270wsm custom rig with Lothar Walther barrel

in the stock.

we'll see,

best is I let someone else shoot eh :D

The old ego takes a bashing eh Edi, but as Pat says its still your rifle and a brilliant group.

I bought a Browning A bolt European some years ago in 270win and made up a box of ammo to hodgdon load info ( H4831 130grn hornady sp ) and after zeroning at a local range, I shout a 5 shot group and was bitterly diappointed as I could only see one hit in the bull through the spotter.

When we finally walked out to the targets I realised the one hole was all 5 shots! didnt measure it but it was only slighly larger than a 270 bullet. Sadly the bolt was faulty and the rifle went back to Browning a couple of weeks later and they couldnt get another for 5 months ( new out at the time).

Still it worked out ok as I bought the TRG Sako instead and that is every bit as good to shoot and is a near one holer too.

Be glad and feel lucky my friend :D

Red,

The old ego takes a turn also when your kids start shooting.

My younger son 15 shot a pigeon this year, so high I've never seen

anything like it. The other fella 16 is coming along ok with the rifle.

Don't mind the ego taking a knock then.

But when my dad comes for a visit I'll never let him win.

With a rifle he never really has beat me, but with the pistol I have no chance.

A bit of competition is good.

Although it's embarrassing to say it - you're never sure if you'll get praise or abuse - but I did the same with my .243 at 100 yards ;) . Couldn't believe it at first but I too shifted my point of aim slightly to the right for a couple of shots and it showed I was spot on with the first grouping.

Cant wait to see it...

Should be screamer.

Mighta told ya this already...

Few weeks back I had Angel out at the range with me.

She shot 18 rds at 100 yrds with my .17HMR...only 6 were outside the 10 ring.

I dont know who was prouder...me or her.

Not bad for someone that has only handled a rifle 2 other times before.

Ya, my wife only fired the 16ga once after the kids wouldn't stop nagging her.

She took out a tiny christmas tree on a clearing... kids had a nice story

for school next day, "mom shot a baby christmas tree".

The wsm is shooting very well already, just the existing composite stock does not

fit the owner well and it's 50% heavier than ours.

I'd love to try my little mini moderator to see how much one can tame the recoil, because

this thing will be quite light.
