MrCetrizine
I've always hated converters, you lose too much for little gain. My personal weapon of choice for most creatures is my Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM. I've never needed more than 400mm especially if you're good at sneaking. mremanxx
Suitable for birding stc Prime 400 with 1.4 converter or 300-500 tele Would depend of the aperture of the prime to be honest,I would always go for prime on either wide or long lenses due to the light gain, tele lenses are a good compromise. JGK
ok thanks im considering a Nikon 200-500mm AF-S F5.6E VR ED If you haven't already seen it have a look on YouTube for a guy called Steve Perry, he has a good comparison video between the 200-500 and the 300pf with a telleconverter. Re-Pete
Take a look at https://www.ephotozine.com/article/tamron-sp-150-600mm-f-5-6-3-di-vc-usd-g2-review-30082 and also http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/latest/articles/tamron-vs-sigma-150-600mm-the-7-key-differences-48183 before parting with your hard-earned. I have the earlier version of the sigma (150-500) and it's a cracker for the money but whatever you decide, try before you buy. London Camera Exchange are very accomodating............
