farmboywide
Is anyone using RS60 in a .243? I have a 26" 1 in 10 twist and interested in 87 or 95 grain hornady bullets. Anyone found a good recipe?
BlueBoy69
Both weights (well just a bit more than 95 gr, at 96 gr) are on line and in the manual? Online load Data 2017 Manual
justin credible
I will stand corrected, but I believe that RS52 would be a better powder for those bullet weights
Xtrema
I find it odd that RS recommend RS60 powder for .260 Rem yet don't provide any load data for it.
Laurie
That's simply because Nitrochemie hasn't put the work and money into developing a comprehensive suite of loading data in the way Vihtavuori has, likewise Hodgdon for its Hodgdon and IMR ranges. When RS powders first arrived, loads data were mostly for cartridges popular with continental European sporting shooters with hardly anything for US cartridges like 260 Rem whose use is largely confined to UK shooters on this side of the Atlantic. So far, not much has changed. However, since RS60 and Alliant Reloder 17 are the same thing in bottles with different labels, a data source is readily available. Et voila (as they say in French speaking Swiss cantons): http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/Powder.aspx?powderid=25 it includes 243 Win data for 80, 85 and 100gn Speer bullets. Does that imply RS62 is Reloader19 etc .Or simular burn rates.
Laurie
Does that imply RS62 is Reloader19 etc .Or simular burn rates. No! Of the Alliant range, three grades come from Nitrochemie the manufacturer of RS powders, and one of those isn't available here AFAIK. (Re17 = RS60; Re33 = RS80; the third one is a .50BMG powder.) All other Alliant extruded propellant grades are manufactured in Sweden by Bofors and the ball grades by General Dynamics St. Marks in the USA.
