Tubs
Does anyone know from experience if you can remove a scope with these rings and bases from your gun, then put it back onto the same gun when needed and still keep zero or will it need to be set up again. Big Al
It depends on what level of accuracy you are looking for? They are certainly repeatable to within 1/2" or less @ 100yds if you torque them to the same amount each time, so adequate for foxing and deer at sensible ranges. I wouldn't fancy taking on a small target like a crow at 400yds without first verifying my zero. Only a couple of days ago my friend removed and refitted a scope to his M595 and it was within 1/4" of the original POI @ 100yds.
gbal
I tend to agree with Al. For quality bases/rings like optilocks the working probability is something like 1/2 moa. That could mean a POI difference of an inch and a half at 250y,but don't forget all the other error factors...you may be close to your acceptable margin for error. The better news is that rezero should be a one or two shot /clicks proceedure. Don't asssume that if repeated, the scope will be off in exactly the same way. With inferior scope mounts, untorqued etc......well ,it won't be any bettter, and probably worse...
