Foxpig's new Stalker.

Recommended Posts

Just finished this rather nice Tikka for a member here.

The brief was a stalking rifle that would do most things for him.

A Tikka T3 was sourced and bought as a donor. The customer requested a few pics along the way, which I did when I remembered I have to admit.

The barrel is a Pacnor light varmint at 24"[ I think ] Its screwcut and invisible capped.

Pic of blank after chambering, and the muzzle.

Work in progress pics as requested.

This was the donor.

This is the finished gun, chambered in 6.5 x .284

The stock is a Boyd's thumbhole varminter in Grey/black laminate. Again, the customer requested pics of the bedding in process,

Marine tex bedding which blended in , colour wise, better than devon on this stock.

The trigger was stripped, tuned, blasted and painted, and resprung.

Finally, the metalwork was blasted and painted in Cerakote Graphite black.

The rail is a stainless 20 MOA one piece, and it has a custom bolt handle and shroud too.

Popped out to the range today and put 10 rounds down it, to check everything out.

I will stress now, that both these groups were shot simply with components I had on the shelf. Its Vhit 160 and I picked a charge weight half way up the load data scale, and simply sat a 123 grain scenar on top at book length.

The load is in no way worked up, its simply to see if the gun shoots straight.

I've had snide comments from some in the trade that the guns pictured in this showcase are not that accurate from the groups shown. They won't be from unworked up loads, they are simply there as an indicator.

They are HONEST , WITNESSED groups , not worked up and then bragged about.

This was the very first 5. The first one fell close to the spot after bore sighting, so I carried on.

I then altered the zero and had at a small 1" patch.

With an OAL gauge and a bit of development with more suitable hunting bullets, I think this fella will cut the mustard.
