Necking down to 7mm-08

I have a new 7mm-08 rifle coming and tried my first lapua brass recently (in .243).

as lapua don't do 7mm-08 can I neck down from . 308 ?

Or is this approach asking for trouble ?

I'd appreciate any other options from experienced reloaders

The new gun is custom so I want to do it justice with the reloads.

Case made this way are fully usable but you'll end up with slightly short necks from the process.

I tried necking down some quality RWS .308 brass to 7mm it was OK but never matched the reloaded Federal 7mm-08 factory brass, groups were 50% larger for the same load combinations.

I neck down Lapua .308 in one resize to 7-08 in a Redding FL die. No problems at all.

BUT I also have some new Norma 7-08 brass which will get used eventually.

I use remmington brass, i dont get throught the relaods some of the lads on here do. I have had great results with varget powder. Good choice of cal. Please post the details of your rifle. We all like customs.
