sean223
Considering rebarreling my Howa 223 to a 204 or 22-250. Is there much to it or has anybody ever done it?
The Gun Pimp
No problem - no different to any other rifle.
6mmBR
Only problem is the .22-250 is a different bolt face diameter but going down the .204 route no problems. Cheers Dave
sean223
Didn't no that. I thought i could just change the barrel and keep the same bolt. Would I need a new bolt then?

I wouldn't bother... anyway the .223Rem is a more than competent calibre plus its cheaper to load... maybe better going down Ackley line if you want something different? You would need a new bolt if you decided on say a 22-250 as the case head diameter is larger than the 223 / 204 you've previously mentioned. I doubt it would be cost effective to purchase a new Howa bolt. Id stick to any cartridge using the 223 head diameter. (223 Rem being the better option in my opinion)
