MJR
I'm running a 243 with a .275 neck. Using lapua brass I need to neck turn. Does anyone know the neck thickness of different makes of brass so I can try brass that doesn't need turning? Thanks.

jcampbellsmith
I've just measured some fired necks on my 243 AI for Lapua brass and they are .275 - .276. When I look at the loaded rounds, these are .270 or less. This brass is Lapua brass and hasn't been neck turned. When I look back in the book for my std .243, I see very similar numbers for Lapua brass. Regards JCS
MJR
Is 2 thou enough? My lightly neck turned brass is 14 1/2thou thick. A loaded round measures .2715/.2720 so I have a minimum of 3 thou clearance. I didn't note down what the new brass thickness was but I remember only taking a very light clean up cut, do you know what new brass measures. Thx.
