brown dog
Idle musing. Procurement and 'fair' testing. Nothing surprising in this; secure jobs, get re-elected: USA found that a US rifle won their trials. ( http://militarytimes.com/blogs/gearscout/2013/03/07/socom-psr-awarded-to-remington-msr/) Canada found that a Canadian rifle won their trials. UK found that a UK rifle won our trials. But Germany didn't choose Blaser. Does that tell us something about the lack of political interference in German procurement decisions or something else? Did Heckler and Koch enter (or are they british aerospace,or too contaminated with SA80s etc etc).It has not always been so-despite recent a-speer-ances! Sometimes too the decisions are defensible/correct,and sometimes not,SAd to say. george ps USA:but was it a 'Berreta' mouse trap

gbal
factory in the congressman's home state ? it was the only thing left on the reloading shelves at Bass pro shop in vegas These may be minor local contributing factors,-local because it will be sourced somewhere in USA,eg-just where may be so influenced. But you are perhaps overlooking the enormous logistic advantage for continued supply if it is produced 'in house'-completely free of the vagaries of external/foreign govenrments etc. The best just isn't if you can't have secure supply-leaving aside whether 'the best 'might well be home grown often enough, anyhow! Still, good luck to all in UK who enjoy Nobel powders, and British bullets, riflescopes, and so on.No worries there!!. george
