Tikka T3-TRG combination

I have a TRG42 that I am very satisfied with, and I really wanted a TRG in 6,5x55.

Its very easy to acess ammo here in Sweden in 6,5 and the ballistics are very similar.

Problem is that the TRG are not avaible in 6,5 and I didn't want a .260.

One of the main features that I really like with the TRG is the quick adjustable stock.

The ability to change the butt plate hight and the adjustable LOP is very usefull.

I change the LOP about 30 mm betwen prone and other positions and it makes wonders for my shooting results.

So I bought the Varmint model Tikka T3.

It has a lot of similaritys with the TRG.

Accuracy is outstanding and it's in my opinions as good as many custombuilds but for a lower price, and with a better barrellife.

The action is very similar to the TRG to, it have a small ejection port and a very stable action that is very important for accuracy and integral rail for scope.

The Tikka does NOT fit in the TRG chassis, so I had to make a new.

The rail on the Tikka action is the same the one on TRG, but the ejectionport is higher on the T3.

Really sadly and stupid as the brass on the T3 is thrown into the lower part of the ejectionport where ut bounces up to the upperpart or the scopemount.

As I absolutely wanted to use my own direct mount (No picatinny where not needed)

So I had to make a little cut by 2,5mm on the ejectionport so it's placed on the right spot.

I had to make my own triggerguard and I installed a TRG trigger

Accuracy is exeptionally.

I am extremely satisfied, it shoots like this all the time.

Last cold bore shot. (aimed at lower corner)

The buttstock is very heavy.

So I switched out some steelparts to alu and lowered the weight by almost a pound!

Ballistics are now the same betwen my 250 grain lock base to my 130 grain VLD out to 1000 meters.

I am very satisfied and I only have the paintwork left.

Opinions? basching? questions?

All are velcome!

Hakan,

I love it! Of course, the other thing you've enabled there is the possibility of a left handed TRG/T3.

I'm guessing this is a one-off and too expensive to do regularly?

Doesn't look like it's using the TRG mags (hard to tell in the pics)how are the T3 mags being held in?

Nope, its using T3 mags now.

But some friends (Alutek) are working on 10 rds 6,5x55/30-06 mags so that is what I will be using.

I prefer 6,5x55 (I am using AI version) to all new flashy 6,5s as there is not yet any cartridge that are doing the job better than the x55.

And also we buy norma ammo here for 60pence per round with 130 VLD att 3000 fps.....

I am using orignal TRG stocks, they are expensive as gold so that is not an regular option.

But buy the KRG version, fits directly to the T3, plus KRG is a wonderfull company to work with.

Its not me in the picture, this is me.

My interest for classic guns and optics are actually higher than for the tactical modern stuff.

It is this picture that has grabbed my attending. I also hasve the older folder and love the upgrade you have made. It brings the support where is should be on the mono-pod.

It is possible that the upgrade will go into serialproduction.

I am working around an army order and we have discussions about it.

IT will not reach production if don't get a serious order.
