Deserttech Europe
Hi the normal weights in a .338 for non expanding are 250gr and 300gr either SMK or Scenar in either. I have good loads for both of these if you are needing any help and I am sure they would work well in an AX. regards DTA Europe
Ronin
Sugeest you look at having custom made instead of a stock AX (despite how good they are) Suggest Surgeon XL action, uses supplied bottom metal and AI mags. Barrel should be 9 twist Min length 26 inches Stock; Manners, Mac, XLR etc Both Baldie and myself run 338's on Surgeons - they work just dandy. baldie
Mine runs a 1 in 10" twist Border Archer at 30". In theory it should only shoot the 250 grain scenars, but it shoots the 300 grain scenar far better ! A peculiarity of the archer barrel, though i,ve built several more to the same spec and these too have shot the 300 grain bullets well. Mine holds the Fly shoot small group record.
