Just bolted back together, changed from muzzle mounted mod to overbarrell moderator lawrence precision, lighter profile Bartlien, than the Benchmark 22BR that i have taken off, 4" shorter in overall length , shaved about 300g with new contour and 34mm rings. Weight of rifle seems to more pointable ,ie less muzzle heavy . Just waiting for Lrr release in ultrashort 3x20x50 .Not drastic changes  but better for intended purpose,  ie vermin fox, Deer rosko 😁

Had a email off schmidt they are not going to produce LRR MILL in 3x20x50 ultra only 5x25x56 3x27x56 and the 5x45x56  so have gone with H2CMR MIL ,6-8 weeks wait , cheers Lee.

Its odd that you choose a single shot action in a chassis, odd to me anyway, i’d have had a nice stock on a single shot rifle or a repeater in a chassis.

    looks nice though

Easier to just throw one round in , shouldn't need a second if i do my bit  😁

When you "think" you need hearing protection (plugs/defenders etc) and when you actually need them are two entirely different things

The 2005 Noise at work regulations stipulate that hearing protection must be provided at noise levels of 85dB and above

A firearm discharging is around 150dB and most suppressors reduce that by around 28-32dB, which still gives a sound level of 120dB, which is 35dB over the safe working limit, but because the gunshot report is so brief, people think they're OK, but it is accumulative and damage does and will occur, so while you think you are comfortable with sound at that level because it's milliseconds, if it was constant then you'd be in trouble

A sound moderator does a good job of reducing noise, but if one is perceived to be better than the other, is 118dB really that much safer than 122dB?

We all still do it though

I worked in industry for 35 years and was subjected to this, I have constant ringing in my left ear from exposure, in later years we became more aware, so I know a little on the subject

I beg your pardon i didnt quite catch that bradders,?

  6. Lee, worth a gander at the Spartan / Javelin Fulcrum bipod - same theme as tha chassis- carbon, titanium and reassuringly expensive. Had a look at it at the IWA, superbly made.

Hi there had a chat with the owner last year some time, but he never got back to me,don't know if they have been released as of yet, thanks ds1

  7. Looking at the forend sling mount you can move it. I would give it a try in a position closer to the action, where it would be put of the way of the Phoenix.

I have a stock with a side mounted up and was sceptical of the location it had been placed but it works well.

I will have a look scotch, one thing I don't want is to be pi55ing about when a shot presents itself. I will have a gander tomorrow I have some beer tokens with my name on them tonight, cheers for the heads up.
  8. Lee, I hope you have found your holy grail. Christ knows you have been through some kit to get there :D

Check out the Phoenix bi-pod. It's not as heavy as you think. Your stock will allow you to mount it pendulum style which keeps the centre of gravity low.

Scotch I was going to have a phoenix on the HABU but we're the bipod will mount on the top of the forend,it will interfere with sling mounting point on the side of the forend so I will have to go underneath. Thanks mate.
  9. Hi Lee, the creed should be excellent and I guess the 22br is a long range bunny hammer. I saw the Habu stock on Gary's stand at the IWA this year and the quality was impressive. All the best with it.

    Many thanks

  10. Have you shot it yet? If so how would you describe the recoil impulse. As an example I find AI rifles "clean" as in recoil directly back and smooth. Some others seem more "bouncy" to me. One of the things that would make it worth the coin would be light weight without the bounce , respective to caliber.

Hi ds1 the rifle in the pic is in 22Br shooting 40g Noslers, only done 66 rounds that was with 6 zero rounds last sat at the range. Will have a play with .22 then have a 6.5 creed but busy at work at the moment,so not much shooting. My intention is to have a creed tube on it as soon as.The chassis has a nice feel to it,nice grip and a right hand folder.Very impressed.

    Thanks Lee
