So a bit of a update on the rifle so far.
I’ve been a little bit silly and developed loads for 3 bullets at the same time, basically because I couldn’t decide which one to use. Also the way our club operates means that we vary between 100,200 & 300 yds at the weekends so I have to wait for the 100yd day to arrive for more load dev.
So far it’s showing a lot of promise with the 183gn Matchking and almost as good with the 185gn RDF. I’ve not had as much luck with the 180gn ELDM but it is still more accurate than me. I should have the loads truly wrapped up on my next range visit in a couple of weeks time.
Couple of points noted in the earlier posts.
Twist rate. Yep a bit odd and I saw that most bullets would work with a 8 twist. However Hornady lists a higher BC with its 180 ELDM’s using a 7.5 and I wanted to try the 197 Matchking. Turns out that it favours other bullets over the ELDM but it’s worth a try. Another thought was I’d like to be able to use any high bc offerings that may come out later.
Extractor. Andy did mention and I had read on various forums etc that the extractor may be a little fiddly and could need some work. However it works flawlessly and I have no issues with chambering or extraction hold ups.
In terms of how it shoots? Surprisingly soft, it is now fitted with one of Dave’s muzzle brakes which tames it and its weight certainly helps.
As Andy says in the first post I wanted it for longer range shooting and having sold my .338 Lapua it will now be my go to for places like Eskdalemuir for now. We have a club trip booked in July to Eskdalemuir and I’m looking forward to stretching its legs up there.
Big thanks to Andy for his work on it. -

Interesting, not something I’d thought of but it would be quite useful.

Any pictures please?
I’ll dig it out and take some but it’s as new.
Comes with the Talon quick attach swivels as well.

Nice one Dave. A lot better (imo) than turning a big section of the barrel down.

Looks bloomin good Dave. For a multifit option, and no extra barrel cutting/threading, why not thread the rear exterior of the brake and have the weight there? For extra mass, if needed, the weight could extend back, reflex-style, over the barrel?
The Kinetic Security Solutions ATS looks a good option to cover a range of profiles etc. Bonus that it can be used with most brakes and forward mounted mods as well.

Nice one Dave. Potentially a British option then?

Tried to PM you but it says you can’t receive messages.

Lightly used collet die set for 8mm Mauser.
I've loaded no more than 150 rounds with the dies but no longer have a 8mm rifle.
The set is the collet neck die, seating die and shell holder only. No full length die or powder scoop.
£20 + postage.

Can't help to much as I've not got mine yet but so far with the research I've done N165 is looking promising. This is with bullets in the 180+gn region though.
