that is right - provided the app isn't trying to correct for altitude and give you sea-level pressure (my Suunto will do that in some settings). Sea level pressure is what's given by national weather stations so it's standardised for all users irrespective of local altitude.
What you are trying to correct for is actual "station pressure" ie where you are. Set your ballistic app to "station pressure" too.
In general correcting for air pressure and/or altitude only makes a usable difference if you have recorded zeroing conditions to extrapolate from - ie station pressure or sea-level pressure with altitude when you zero (along with temp and humidity). What you are adjusting for is relative air density which is a combination of temperature humidity and pressure. If you know that, apologies for mansplaining.
Thank you that makes perfect sense now

3m peltor sport tac work well and ear plugs don't give you full protection that's why we had to use over the ear protection at the airport.

Ok I have the Samsung s7 which apparently has a barometer built in so that might work.
I am new to longer range shooting so excuse any daft questions.
If it reads the pressure at your location does that mean you don't need to know your feet above sea level ?

Does anyone use a barometer mobile phone app and if so are they accurate

The threads can be changed for about £65 or so by the importer, Jackson Rifles
...though that may take the total past what you are looking to spend
Great mods though - got one in .30 with a 5/8-24 thread (not for sale)
An alternative is to look for an adapter bushing - or have one madeThank you but I have got a good deal from a rfd at my club.

Finally made my mind up I am going for the ASE jet z compact.

Thank you for the advice, I am thinking of pushing the boat out and going for the swfa ss 10x44 which has very good reviews.
-
I had a Marlin but it was from their bad period so now I have two Henry's, much better build quality
-
Only Target work anywhere between 100-600 yards I quite like the idea of the fixed 10 power since I looked at the swfa but that is out of my budget

I am looking at getting one of the above or something in this area, it's to go on my .308.
I don't have a lot of spare cash (up to £300) for something more upmarket at the moment so I would like your opinions.
The vortex crossfire is also a possibility.
Cheers

I had a Falcon 4-14x44 FFP on a 308 a while back, and it was brilliant.........
Pete
ps Opticswarehouse is about as good as they get.............
Thank you I will give them a look

Has anyone owned one of these scopes and if so what are your thoughts on the brand.
I am looking for a scope to go on my 308 but can only go up to £300 so if not the above scope what would you recommend in my price bracket.
Cheers

We like to eat and she can't (more likely, won't) cook.
Besides I'm in the house before she is most nights, it's tough being a kept man and a work from home husband.
My heart bleeds for you 😊

The acid should be neutralised by the hard water.
I just rinse in softened water to remove the dirty water and lay on shop-towel on a tray and remove any excess water. Then in the oven on its lowest setting for about 30 minutes (or after cooking a roast as the oven cools) and they're pretty much dry.
As I do all the cooking the wife never needs to know 😏
Sounds like a plan

Rinse in soapy water and rub a towel over them and leave in the airing cupboard over night. I used to leave them on a radiator but wifely wasn’t happy.
That works for me, my wife gets the hump when I clean my ruger old army in the kitchen sink

Thank you I will get some citric acid and give it a go, my tank is 2 litres so I will go for the heaped teaspoon.
Do you give the cases a rince in water after or do you need anything to neutralise the acid?
-
Ok sounds about right for my unit as my brass hadn't been cleaned for a long time so it should be quicker next time.
-
Thank you for your replies I will take a look at them and let you know how I get on

I have just ordered my first 308 rifle and I am looking for a mod, does anyone have any recommendations, it will be for using on a range so I am not too worried about the size or weight.

My first post so Hello all
I have just picked up a u/s cleaner from GT sonic it's a 100w unit and I am using Sea clean fluid, it seems to work well enough although it did take 3 cycles of 30 minutes to get the cases truly clean does that sound about right compared to the units any of you are running.
My brass was rather dirty to start with.

I have a new Henry pump action which is very accurate with SK standard, haven't tried it in my buckmark carbine yet
