  8. Hi All.... I am selling my Savage .223 thumbhole rifle with the Leupold scope as above. As you can see the rifle itself is in mint condition, never been "in the field" as it has been used for target shooting at Bisley & Lydd ranges only, I have really taken good care of this rifle! It has a 26" stainless steel fluted barrel with a 1-9 twist rate. I am only selling it as it is rarely used (so it has a very low round count) & I need to reduce my holding. As you can see it is screwcut ready for a mod if required. It has only had reloaded ammo through it save for the first 20 rounds of factory ammunition to run the barrel in. This rifle is extremely accurate, sub 1 MOA easy at 300yds, a fantastic bit of kit! The Leupold scope is a Mark AR MOD 1 3-9 x 40mm P5 Dial Riflescope, Matte Black, Duplex Reticle SKU 115389, again in mint condition, not a mark on it. It is designed purposefully for the .223 calibre for a 55gr FMJ projectile with a muzzle velocity of 3100 FPS. However, I reload using Lapua Scenar 69g heads & depending on the conditions it is normally within a click once your target yardage is selected, a fantastic scope with a Duplex reticle. Comes with front & rear Leupold Alumina Flip Back Lens covers & Leupold scope rings. Could meet at Bisley or RFD to RFD. Cost new would be well over £2000 for the package. *****REDUCED PRICE ***** £1450 + RFD fee £25 ovno. Advertised elsewhere. Thanks for looking.
  9. Plus one on buying good quality sizing & seating dies, for me Redding or Wilson. Same for powder dispensing, consistency is the key in all areas of reloading imo. Buy once, cry once, as my dear old Dad used to say........good luck Terry! 👍
  10. Hi All...I have for sale one of the above revolvers, currently for sale at Henry Kranks for £450 as link below. It is in mint condition as it has been hardly used, I doubt if it's had 100 shots through it, but it is a very accurate revolver. It comes complete with it's original box, fleece lined pouch, brass powder flask, lead balls, wads, primers, 6 spare nipples, nipple removal tool, in-line capper & rubber "hand saver" Thanks! *** NOW SOLD *** https://www.henrykrank.com/guns/muzzle-loading-guns/black-powder-revolvers/uberti-1858-new-army-target-stainless-steel-8-barrel-black-powder-revolver-44cal.html
  11. Like a lot of things in life it all seems very complicated but much simpler when you actually do it......Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine! 👍
  12. Hi....you bump the shoulders back by using either a full length sizing die, which as it infers resizes the whole case, including the neck, back to SAAMI spec, or a body die which resizes only the body of the case bumping the shoulders back but not resizing the neck. The further you screw the full length die down into the press relative to the shell holder it will resize more of the neck & bump the shoulders back further. Likewise the body die, the further you screw the die down into the press the more it will bump the shoulder back. You should be aware that with standard bottle neck cases what you are doing in fact is adjusting the headspace. You can tweak the amount of sizing by minor adjustments to the die. Moving a standard 7/8" die 1/8th of a turn is equal to 0.0089" of movement. However, once you have set your die into the press to the manufacturers instructions, some people like to adjust the bump by using Redding Competition shellholders to leave the die set as it is & adjust the bump/headspace accordingly with different size shell holders until the bolt locks down without any resistance with around 0.002"/0.003" clearance. They are sold in sets of 5 from +0.002" with incremental steps up to +0.010".........Whatever method you use it is best to measure what your cases relative to SAAMi specs measure once your brass has fire formed to your chamber 3-4 times. Then bumping back the shoulders circa 0.002" will ensure that you will avoid a "sticky bolt" & work your brass less extending your case life. There are many theories around this subject as I'm sure you will find with some saying that there is no evidence that over sizing your brass each time is detrimental to case life, but it just seems logical to me..... that's just my opinion for what it's worth. You did not say what type of die your fancy match die is?.......If it is say a Redding Type S or Competition die bushing die then you will have to purchase the appropriate size bushing to achieve the optimum neck tension for the calibre/brass you are using. Hope that helps.....
  13. That's correct, they are not alone, as I said in my post....but many auction houses do use external online platforms that you end up paying an additional fee for....it's fine as long as you build all these charges into your maximum bid & it's easy to call the auction house before you bid & ask the relevant questions, I've found most to be extremely helpful.
  14. Hi All & Happy New Year! Another add on to be aware of is that when you bid via a third party auction site like thesaleroom.com, the actual auction house selling the item then adds a further 3-5% plus VAT on the hammer price for their fee, so you end up paying the buyers premium to the auction house which is normally anywhere between 15%-25% but sometimes can be as high as 30% plus VAT + the 3-5% online site fees. I was told by an auction house to register directly with them & bid through their website to avoid this additional fee. Trouble is that the 3rd party site does a lot of advertising & you can get sucked in to register & bid via their site......to be fair its all perfectly legal & above board & the fees are no doubt buried in the T's& C's but......If you bid on any online platform my experience would be to work on adding around at least 30% to whatever the hammer price was & if your happy with that then fine.....oh & if you pay online via PayPal it's likely that they will also charge you another 3% to cover that.....it's very much buyer beware. Good luck!
  15. Well If it 'ain't broke don't fix it!.....sems to me you're doing it right..... 👍
  16. To F/L or Neck size is a debate that has raged on for years with entirely valid reasons offered up for both.....personally I think this is a case of whatever works for you & your rifle. Shooting F class compared to .303 rifles that are between 115 & 65 years old are about as far apart as it gets & personally having tried both I will stick with my reloading methods for my rifles whilst respecting all & any opinions that might differ from mine. Whether you have been loading for many weeks or decades you learn something new all the time, it's what makes reloading such a fascinating part of our hobby. The main thing is we are all shooters enjoying our sport & long may that continue..... May I wish you all a safe , healthy & Happy New Year!
  17. Thanks Pops...I thought it was just me.....😂😂😂😂😂
  18. +1 on terryh's & Popsbengo's replies......also notwithstanding shouty American video...😂😂 I reload for a number of calibres, mainly old military rifles & F/L resize back 2-3 thou from my fire-formed cases about every 4-5 reloads & neck size in between. The cases are fire-formed to your rifle after all.....I found this to be the average time the bolt just about starts to get slightly heavier to lock down (depending on powder, load, calibre & brass quality) & then the shoulder needs to be bumped back slightly. As terryh also says there is no need to push the brass way back to SAAMI/CIP specs every reload, in my case I found that to be so, particularly in .303 British as it can lead to case head separation, especially with poor quality brass. ..... All this of course depends on whether or not you are reloading for one rifle, if 2 or more different rifles in the same calibre you will of course need to keep the cases separate to each rifle or F/L all cases every time to a spec that one size fits all..... Unless you have titanium bushing neck dies or the Lee collet neck die you will need to lube imo.....👍 DeLaRue
  19. Hi....can you tell me what fitting this comes with please as I'm not sure if they always came with a choice of Anshutz or Picatinny? Cheers....
  20. Hi, this is a superb quality Neil Jones .38/.357 cal leather ammunition belt & slide Size 38W with velcro fastening currently listed on his website for £102.50. The reference numbers are NJ-001 for the belt at £55 & NJ-006 for the leather belt slide for 26 rounds at £47.50. I have never used it as I intended to enter competitions at Bisley but I never did.....a bargain! The postage cost is for mainland U.K. only. I will only post to addresses within the U.K. no post boxes please, thanks. Item advertised elsewhere..... Price £70 plus postage at cost around £5. Thanks for looking! ***OPEN TO OFFERS ANYONE?*** ****SOLD SUBJECT TO PAYMENT ETC.****
  21. Hi All...as above & this set has genuinely reloaded no more than 150 rounds, so as new. I paid about £75 + postage for this set, without the shell holder, about a year ago & have sold the rifle so of no use to me now & c/w 3 Hornady Sure-Loc rings. I think £50 to include a shell holder plus postage at cost is fair. I'm at Bisley on Sunday 19th of July if you wish to collect, so up to you....... The cost of postage quoted by Royal Mail is: RM Special delivery insure & tracked is £8.80 1st class is £3.70 not insured. 1st class tracked & signed for £4.70 again not insured. The photo is a stock image, dies have been packed! Advertised elsewhere.... If interested please let me know.... Thanks for looking.....Cheers All!
