  2. The bolt is loose with in them.  More technology than I can describe the bolt is sprung to allow the levers to turn back.  Then tighten to even lengths.  It really is a great mount just to much for me.

it is up for sale as I have no use for it.

  3. Sako TRG 34 mm three ring scope mount QD

These mounts from what I can make out are three 34 mm optiloc rings secured on a qd base they do fit any piccatiny rail and come with 30 MOA of elevation built in to the base.

    surplus to requirements.

prices vary online so I’ll start off with 200 posted

also looking for a set of tier one 30 mm rings if someone fancies a part exchamge

  5. It’s not the cost, check the legislation n transferring from section one to section five.

it will carry fees to have the work done, it would have to go through a section five licensed dealer.  And then be reproofed that is assuming it is legal to convert.

The firearms act and various amendments can be found online.  In your shoes I would sell the LBP and buy a 22 pistol.  Have firearms stipulated any magazine restrictions on the humane dispatch pistols ?

    it’s certainly an interesting query.

  6. I have to agree the c8 on the face of it is a better rifle.  However having used the SA80 for  many years and now the C8  I much prefer the C8.

The LSW was actually a decent weapon when employed as a sniper support rifle.  As a support weapon it always was junk.

The LMG was great if you wanted to make a lot of noise and miss the enemy.  Still as a suppressive fire weapon it achieved its aim.  It was initially bought as a UOR weapon during the build up to Telic 1 where the 16 inch barrel and retractable stock were a bonus.  In a warrior rammed to the roof with ammo any space saving is a premium.

The 51 was exceptional, very easy to use with minimum training direct hots were easily achievable.  The 60 mm that replaced it is useless and hated by most.  Not even sure if it is still being used.

As for the SASC some very capable individuals in there even some that have passed senior Brecon.  However they are instructors and experts in range management.  Not many of them claim to be ballistics experts.

  7. Struggling to find the optima 6 anywhere in the U.K. I settled well not really settling on a 4-16  PM 2 which will remain on my 6.5. Bought an interim ZEISS to cover the 308.

still tempted by the Leupold or Steiner M 5xi

cutting my budget down to 1500 on this one so used is key.  I can stretch it a little for the right scope.    The Minox ZP comes highly recommended as well.

thanks for everyone’s input.  Now I just need to find some time to get out shooting.
