  1. I can measure the bolt face alongside a T3 308 bolt at my local.
  2. Not much chance of me burning a barrel out unfortunately, although I do love squeezing the trigger ! I know the straight 284 is the preferred option for barrel life, worth comparing ballistics, but I'd be into big heavy barrels to run the high BC bullets and keep recoil and flip under control, and quite frankly, I'm a bit of a woos 😁
  3. Thanks. The rifle will be dual purpose red deer and gong bashing. Not an out and out hill stalker, more of a sitting watching big areas of land on edge of hill and forestry. Probably running a 140gr or thereabouts. May also be trialled with a lighter lead free bullet, although my 270 does that fine. I've had a straight 284, and it was a great thing, but completely biased to prone LR stuff.
  4. Any of the riflesmiths out there, can you advise if a T3 in 6.5x55 would be a suitable action/bolt face to rebarrel to 6.5-284, or are there any particular issues to overcome ?
  5. Two genuine AI mags now purchased. Many thanks for your input folks !
  6. 270, Barnes 110TTSX loaded to replicate/better Sako Powerhead 2 factory, so used fast powder, RS52, 53.0gr in once fired cases, produces 3250fps and cloverleaf/thumbnail groups out of my 22" barrel. No issues with accuracy. However, not all barrels are as keen to play ball.
  7. Call Hunters Cabin, pretty sure he has them.
  8. Thanks folks, appreciated. I'll be taking onboard all advice from PSE as to bedding etc, and it will be going to a decent 'smith for the work.
  9. Soon to have a stock fitted with Atlasworx bottom metal for AICS mags for my 6.5x47, Remmy 700SA. Any advice on which make(s) of magazine will provide flawless feeding, from those who've been here ?
  10. Selling my .284win. It's a rifle built by Mike Norris on a Remmy 700 action, Jewell trigger, with a Sassen heavy varmint barrel 30", 18x1 muzzle, ASE S5 moderator. Action, rail, barrel and bottom metal are Cerakoted in military green. In a green/tan/black marble Macmillan A3-5 adjustable stock.Picatinny rail fitted, Nightforce rings with bubble, wearing a Delta Stryker 4.5-30x56 LRD1-P ret.Redding FL bushing die, non-micrometer seating die. Plenty brass. Round count would be circa 500, but a video of borescoping could be supplied to any potential buyer. This is a rifle built to wallop steel at 1000yds plus, chambered to shoot 180gr bullets (I'm running 180 gr ELD-M) Mr Norris told me all about it when I bought it, extremely helpful. It's undoubtedly a shooter, but I'm just not getting time/opportunity to use it enough.I'd like to sell the whole setup complete, nothing is for sale separately. The scope has marks on the objective lens although these do not affect sight picture to my admittedly not great eyes.Price for the whole shebang is negotiable, but IRO £2k.Please contact by PM only to ask any questions, request pictures, haggle etc.CheersMalc
  11. Running 140 ELD-M over RS62, velocities circa 2735, 42.0gr 2.825 OAL. 24" barrel. The RS60 is more temp sensitive I found, but would be fine for minute of deer accuracy and give better velocities.
  12. In the process of load development with 180gr ELD-M using N165 out of a 28", 56.7gr with an OAL of 3.370. SD is generally around the 9, 0.3gr more or less same results. Two pals running theres, one ELD-M, one Berger, both getting excellent results with N160.
  13. No, this was tge FFP version, less mag. Really quite impressed for what they cost.
  14. Too late, it's on my rifle (incidentally, the 284 Matthew advertised at the same time.)
  15. Used to love my Altbergs (Gamekeeper Stark Extremes), but first pair leaked within warranty, replacement pair leaked, now rebuilt and still leak. Perhaps buying their more traditional leather options may be better.
  16. PJS by Forfar, will get it done quickly and at a very fair price. I think you'd be waiting a while to get Callum to attend to it. Or, Eric Burnett, who I think is still working outside Mintlaw for Buchan Guns ? Grant Taylor on the edge of Dundee also would do a proper job.
  17. 6.5x47L, 6.5 Creed. As JCS says, bear in mind the ever increasing likelihood of a lead ban.
  18. You may get a new unit from GMK (via your local gunshop) but it could cost you £145... I previously tried a CG trigger from the mob that are doing them in Australia, but it was a disaster, didn't fit, hopeless technical asisstance etc, so was retutned. Expensive mistake that one, a shame as I'd heard the CG units were great.
  19. Apologies, too brief there. To expand, I was sent a T3 unit by GMK in error, it didn't fit, but this could just be due to the angle of the thumb pad on the safety lever. However, that's not a very easy thing to modify. I went on to purchase a unit from Bix n Andy, which I was assured they'd done many times. Turns out it also didn't fit due to the safety lever. I had to modify the action of my M595 slightly to make it work (done after consultation with a most revered riflesmith). Bix n Andy solution was just to bend it, but to me that was not the solution, it was simply the wrong shape. In summary, do not order anything that is designed for T3 and expect it to be a straight fit to M595/M695.
  20. FFS, I just sold a brand new unused M595/695 genuine assembly for half price two days ago, as it had been lying about in my cupboard for a year. I have a Tikka set trigger unit (Stecher) for these too, could be persuaded....
  21. T3 unit is not interchangeable, from experience.
  22. Looking at this change to burn rate, has piqued my interest, mainly in understanding more. I tried changing the burn rate for my own load using Nosler 125gr bullets, and see that only a change up to 0.5100 is required to match my chrono'd velocities of 3010. Looking at it, the given value of 0.5045 gives a velocity of 20fps lower for my load. So, modifying burn rate only applies to a given load, , in this case the 150gr and up bullets; if using 0.55 in my other loads/rounds, they subsequently appear to be over pressure. What other factor should be changed as a constant so that RS52 QL data can be more accurate across the board ?
