  5. For sale is a Remington, VSSF rifle in the superb 17 FB calibre. This is a top end remmy rifle and fitted with a stainless fluted barrel and threaded by Brock & Norris. It has an after market trigger and is very sweet to shoot with NO perceivable recoil and a laser like trajectory. The rifle has done very little work and is in great condition. Accuracy is spot on and groups in the 0.4s are pretty normal with 25 grn Vmax at 3870 fps. The rifle also loves 20 grn Vmax and at almost 4100 fps this makes for a very effective and safe varmint and foxing set up. The rifle comes with an ASE Utra .CQB mod which has been cericoated black, there is also a and a quality picatinny rail included . . I am looking for £595 for rifle and mod. ( will RFD at buyers expence) . I have a lot of brass - bullets - dies ect, that can be purchased by the buyer of rifle , or after rifle has been sold. Thank you for looking ( PM me you number and I will send you pics if your interested)
  6. Hi Maxi. I am interested in this rifle. Will text you tomorrow Alan
  7. Wow that a lot of fox - how many foxes per year were you getting
  8. Whats weird is this scope has more elevation than the Swaro X5 . There was no comment by you that the X5 had limited elevation. I find it unbelievable that you struggled with the new Zeiss at 550 yrds I have no issues with running out of elevation when shooting my 223 with 55 grn bullets at that range. In fact I haven't even gone a full revolution of the turret - so less than half of the adjustment range. My 22.250 - using 75 grn Amax has been out to 1100 yrd using my Zeiss victory with 0.5 cm clicks - NO issues - could have gone out further... For the record , this is scope has even LESS elevation range than the new 4.8 - 35 Zeiss. I know you have used one ... but the maths and my own experiences of owning and running three victorys 6-24 doesn't support your comments.. Maybe your scope was mounted so that the majority of the adjustment was used up ... i.e below the line of sight. Fek knows -. - What I can say is having 130 cms of elevation at 100 meters wont stop anyone shooting beyond the accurate range of most rifles and people. What is true , there are load of great scopes in the 24 power mag range - But as you get above 32 mag , really good optics are much thinner on the ground. Other than a couple of scope by IOR , which look like they have fallen out of the ugly tree - what has got the optical quality and sheer mag range of this new Zeiss What comes close to low light performance and has the prestige and heritage of this scope. ??? Shelock .
  9. This scope offers 130 cm @ 100 meters of elevation - That more than enough for shots well past 1200 yrds away. I wonder really how many vermin / hunters or target shooter really do a lot of there shooting past 1000 yrds anyway. If there is an issue - get a 20 MOA rail - no big deal is it .. The so called limited elevation seems a pointless issue to pick at.... Question - will you run out of elevation shooting a rabbit or target at 1200 yrds NO ---- MOVE ON. Personally I find the 0.5 cm superb for shooting small targets at long range - An example of this would be shooting crow at 700 yrds - Using the 1 mil increments - one click will move POI - 7 cm at that range. Personally and after owning Zeiss 6-24x56 with both with 0.5 and 1 cm clicks - the finer clicks are the better choice and the one which most shooter prefer. So in answer the question - who would want a scope with : The sharpest, brightest optics with the one of the best resolution of any scope. A huge field of view . A huge mag range - 4.8 to 35 is one of the biggest and will do every type of shooting One of the most compact scopes in its class A great mildot ret in the SFP - that wont blot out the target on full mag or disappear if you wind it down The best low light performance on the planet . aesthetically, a very handsome scope that oozes class. A scope made by a world renowned optics manufacture with a long history and a deserved reputation for quality. The answer to the question is "ME for one" --- and I bet a lot of other shooters who appreciate these qualities over having a million clicks which they will never use. Sherlock
  10. Hi Ian. I suppose it begs the question , Why hasn't a manufacturer made the 22 BR a commercial calibre if they are superior. Personally I don't think it would make much of a dint in the 22.250 sales Look at its bigger brother , the 6 BR , Despite producing factory ammunition and some factory rifles. .... It only has a tiny following compared to the vastly more popular 243 . Despite the extra powder, extra recoil and promise of inherent accuracy . The 6 Br hasn't prised most 243 shooters away from their trusty rifles.. Why .. because you don't shoot groups on Deer or coyotes , therefore measuring group sizes in 0.1 's has very little relevance to hunters. Same principal goes for Fox shooters and vermin control, A standard 22.250 factory rifle can produce 0.5 MOA.groups at 400 yrds. Therefore easily sufficient accuracy for any vermin and very little would be gained for the extra cost and faffing with brass. As far as recoil - I have just plugged some rough figures in to a recoil calculator The 22.250 produces 6.1 ft lbs of recoil ( 75 grn Amax @ 3300 fps) The 22 BR produces 5.7 ft lbs of recoil ( 75 grn Amax @ 3300 fps There is actually less in terms of recoil between a 223 and a 222 ....E.G Sweet FA 22 BR is undoubtedly superb performer - but that doesn't make the 22.250 inferior just because it uses about 3 to 4 grns more per shot... Otherwise the same argument could be used for the 22 PPC against the 22 BR. ATB S
  11. Hi Elwood... I don't think you will upset too many of us 22.25 shooters TBH.... although there might be a wry smile or two. Last weekend , just checking my zero before varminting , I fired the two three shot groups below using 75 grn Amax @ 3360 fps.. In January I shot this three shot group with the inferior 22.250 at exactly 500 yrds (3 shots witnessed by 2 people) I think the 22 BR is a great calibre and obviously the OP wants a custom calibre. In my eyes it means is more case prepping - more expense for no gain in the field... and usually limited to a single shot rifle..... Everyone to their own , as they say ATB S
