To me a Low SD indicates that you should minimise vertical dispersion at range because most of your shots are around the same MV.
Logically you would think that this tends to support tight groupings but anecdotal evidence varies.
Once beyond close range grouping all sort of issues can start dispersion which queers long range grouping.
Quirky winds, bullet no longer supersonic, mirage, not getting atmospherics rignt, ... a long list!
Either way a low SD (<10) is obviously desirable.

I use a variable speed power screwdriver with a Redding vld inside chamfer tool shucked in it...perfect!
Cheaper than prep centres and just as effective/ low effort.
Still have to do the outside chamfer manually but its only a turn and done.

Lapua brass often comes with tighter necks than you mignt want.
A suitable expander mandrel fixes this easily and quickly as well as being useful to fix any dents in the neck from shipping.
Its good practice to include this in post-fired reloading processes.
The above does not imply any need to completely resize new brass unless you are extremely 'picky'.

Why not just rebarrel the 308 to 6.5 Ralph?

Dauntsey Guns if you want a course down South.

Is there one that takes the older 452?

Cheers Scotch
I have to love the folding stock..... carry the rifle in a shorty bag which is SOOOO easy vs a dragbag!😁

308 18" barrel in an MDT HNT26 works for me.
I had a 26" 260 rem plus mod....way too long for comfort in the field as much as I prefer the 260 as a calibre.
I am using Hornady 165g SST as they were all that I could get at the time.
These are running at 2595 fps and are .5 moa or less.
I use N140 in a very long COAL of almost 2.9" which JUST fits in the MDT 3 round mag.

BTW...what accessory?
