  1. Glad no one's mentioned Le Chameau boots as any good, the first pair I had a good few years ago were fantastic and lasted about 3 years. The second and third pair's were absolute rubbish and lasted about 6 months , not had any for about 6 years now but I doubt the quality has improved!

  2. Hi all , iv needed some for a while now but not sure which ones to get ? What do you guys wear or recommend ? as thell be used for dog walking varminting on farms / some very hilly , foxing , maybe some decoying from hide etc . I do like berghaus fleeces / gortex jackets etc there stuffs quality ! budget upto maybe 200 ? Cheers

Meindl's every time for me, I use the Dovre extremes for shooting and a pair of their Burma's for working in.

  3. Great looking set up Andy, I'm just hoping my wife is as imaginative as yours. Glad to see the scales being used, the IPad app makes it so much easier to veiw.

Scales are great Steve, when I showed her what she'd bought me for Christmas she just gave me "that look" that only women can give and walked off!

  4. I got the Mrs to buy me a Targetmaster Powder Trickler for Christmas which arrived yesterday and what a fantastic piece of kit it is, very well made, extremely accurate, repeatable and very easy to set up and use.

I found the iphone magnifying app very useful as you can see just how accurate the set up is performing. Ive attached a short video of me weighing 29.5 grains of N133 and I could repeat this accuracy time after time.

If you are thinking of getting one DO as it will be the best £120 or so that you will spend.

Allan comes on here so if you want one give him a shout you wont be disappointed!

  5. Hi,

Belated correction! The CAM rifle was designed and developed for the cadet rifle trials in the late eighties. It was named CAM after the inventor's nephew's initials. I am doing some in-depth research on the history of this rifle and when completed will publish it here first,

    Blimey, thanks Alan interesting stuff.

  6. Just had this e-mail back from NF regarding reticle changes etc, thought it may be of interest if you are considering having any work done to your NF scope.

    Andy.

    Andy,

Hello and thank you for contacting Nightforce Optics.

Yes, we are offering Service Modification work at this time.

Nightforce offers both reticle and turret modifications for a nominal fee.

ZeroStop turrets are available in either .250 MOA or 0.1 Mil Radian adjustments. Nightforce can modify your NXS optic (to exclude the 42 power optics) with the ZeroStop of your choice for $350.00. Standard Hi-Speed turret modification costs are $275.00, which includes .250 and .125 MOA adjustments (.125 MOA Hi-Speed adjustments are available for the NXS 8-32 and 12-42 powers only).

Reticles can be modified for both first and second focal plane optic models. The cost to modify a second focal plane optic is $300.00, and to modify a first focal plane optic is $400.00. This is excluding the Horus H-58 reticle, which is priced upon request. (Note: Focal planes are not interchangeable). The average domestic return shipping cost is $16.50 for a single optic.

To have any of these services performed, please contact a Nightforce Optics customer service representative at (208) 476-9814 to schedule the service and receive a Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA). An RMA must be processed prior to performing any services. When calling, please be prepared to supply your personal contact information and the nature of your request, to include the optic configuration, serial number etc. Lastly, we ask that all service optics are sent in with a Factory Service Form. This form can be downloaded and printed from our website under the Service/Repair Forms tab, www.nightforceoptics.com.

All prices are subject to change at Nightforce Optics discretion.

Please let us know if we can be of additional assistance.

    Best regards,

  7. I'm a lefty also and I've shot right handed rifles from my left shoulder all my life, it's something I've just got used to. I normally use a padded cheek piece on the stock which helps a lot.

If I could ever have a custom rifle built I would definatley have it made true left handed with a left bolt and left port.

In the past I've had a couple of left handed air rifles which 22/250 foxer mentioned and I had to let go for sod all simply because there is a very small market for lefties.

Iv'e recently been thinking of buying a Savage .17hmr in left hand but may change my mind and buy a ambidexterious stocked gun simply because it will be easier to sell.

One great advantage of being left handed is it's much easier to shoot out of the land rover window from the drivers side :)

  8. I too remember Bill Parrs, I am sure I remember a Vickers Machine gun on a tripod there on one day, I assume it was a deact’.

    ATB

    B-b

When Bill got to know you he often had some "very interesting" items of weaponary to show, so I wouldn't be at all supprised if the Vickers was fully funtional!!!!!

  9. I too was passing through belper on tuesday afternoon and pointed the said shop out to the wife stating that i had spent a few hard earned pounds in there many moons ago,it seems a long time since that was a gun shop,I did hear Bill had passed away and i think that sadly was the end of the shop.

    JTF

Thanks for that, It's always sad when old traditional shops disapear.

  10. Went thru Belper the other day and it reminded me of Bill Parr Firearms, this was the shop I bought my first CF rifle from at least 30 years ago, it was a Sako Vixen .222.

Did anyone else ever use this shop and what happened to it?

    Cheers

    Andy
