Anyone found a decent, no rattle, waterproof ammo wallet? I want one just to keep a few spare rounds in my jacket pocket. I’ve tried the MTM plastic wallet but the hinges soon give up!
I currently use a normal canvas wallet which I put in a zip lock bag, it works but a faff!
Any thing better?

Had good reports from people who have used “Diver dave” repellant
Not used it myself
Funny you should mention that, I was reading about it this morning on the SD forum, as you say very good reports. I’ll get a bottle to try.
cheers

Sounds like tricky stuff to use
Thats all I found, they don’t seem to sell it.
thanks for looking anyway.

I’ve got an old ex army field jacket which is brilliant for shooting in and it’s always turned water....until now!
On the label it says reproof with a product called Mystolene Mk9, I can’t find this anywhere so what would be the next best thing to use? either a spray on or wash in product doesn’t matter really.
I know it’s not going to be brilliant at waterproofing just want it to turn a light shower really.
Cheers

Thanks Terry looks just the job.

I’m after a rifle sock or cover that will slip over a scoped rifle easily but still be able to use the sling and it needs to roll up for pocket carry.
Its just to cover the rifle when crossing roads while moving from field to field.
Ive seen plenty of rifle storage socks but they are all enclosed, I need something similar but open the full length so it slips on but the sling is still usable any ideas?

Ended up buying a Olight warrior x, not tried it in anger yet but it seems to be a well made torch.

Anyone got any suggestions for good waterproof trousers? I don’t mean over trousers just a pair that can be worn for shooting, walking or working in and preferably uninsulated (I like to be overly warm)
Cheers

Thanks for the replies chaps.

What’s a good quality freeze dried food for hiking, or to take on a nights shooting, the kind you just add boiling water to?
I tried a couple of meals from Go Outdoors and they were pretty awful really! I’m not expecting top quality cuisine just something tasty that can be quickly cooked.
Thanks

These are about the cheapest decent ones at the mo (you can get them a bit cheaper, perhaps 180ish) https://www.scottcountry.co.uk/wildlife-cameras/cellular-wireless/spypoint-link-micro-cellular-wildlife-camera/
Quite a few use their own subscription services which aren't badly priced.
Range - same as a phone, if there's network coverage where you put it you're good to go.
Worth it - really depends on the use I guess. Professional pest or deer controller, probably. Obviously if youre thinking of deplying a bunch of them then it would cost a tidy sum - before accounting for any that get robbed or vandalised!
Getting robbed or vandalised would be my biggest problem.
I use cheap £50 cameras at the moment, even though it’s annoying when they do go it’s not too much of a financial loss, I’d be mighty pi55ed off if a £200 cam went!
I’ll have to work out good camera vs cheap cam, travelling, time, etc

Thinking of upgrading my wildlife cameras simply to save time driving here there and everywhere checking them.
Cameras that send pictures to your phone, a couple of questions.
1 Do they work simply off a “pay as you go” sim card and are they expensive to run?
2 Is there a range limit that they’ll send pictures?
3 Are they actually worth the extra money over standard cameras?
Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

I’m after a pair of waterproof boots that aren’t too warm for summer early autumn shooting/ walking, a pair thats capable of walking through wet grass without getting pi55 wet through feet!
Any suggestions?

I would agree with whats been said about the niggleoh, works ok when side mounted but i found the rifle slopped about when mounted on the underside of the stock.Went with the z-aim.Much more secure in my experience.I have a niggleoh which i could let you have a lend of if you like.If you want to keep it i will happily sell it to you for the price of a z aim.
Thank you for the offer Drum, unfortunately before I read this I’d ordered a z-aim!!
if I dont like it I’ll buy the Niggeloh off you.
Cheers

I also tried the Z-aim, and I'm probably one of the few people who didn't like it, might have been because my rifle is quite heavy but it certainly didn't feel secure for my use
My rifles also a bit of a lump! Was it the quality of the product or the system that made it feel unsecured?

I use the pro hunter sling from practical precision on my rifle that has traditional sling mounts on the bottom of the rifle. It works well and is good quality.
Have you used it while also carrying a rucksack?
looks a good quality product.
-
I’ve seen those, look fairly good not sure of the quality though?
Good thing about the Niggeloh’s is they are good quality, I’ve got a couple of their classics and they seem to last forever.
-
Ok thanks, I think the rifle would probably sit better when it’s side mounted.
-
Anyone use one, thought it might be usful for long walks?

First of all you will need to remove their food source, then get some bait down. Once the bait been eaten keep replenishing it until they have stopped feeding on it. (this is vital to do)
All off the shelf bait will work its just takes time as rats and mice will need to feed on the bait several times to build up a lethal dose of the active ingredient.
If you decide to use fenn or any other trap make an artifical tunnel around the inside perimeter of the shed to place the trap in, rats like to explore.
Rats have whats called Neophobia which makes them wary of anything new so it could take a while to get rid of them with traps.
Once they've gone then you will obviously need to find their entry point and make it good because you can bet your life others will find your shed.

Received mine last week Andy, you won't be disappointed, bad news about the scales. Not sure which scales you've purchased, but if it's the FZ's you may have to remove a stuck on electrical ribbon cable, it panicked me to start with but was all ok. Pm me if you need.
Had the same touch on the import tax
Superb results John, thanks for the whole post.
Cheers Steve,
