My auotmatic trickler and scales arrived last week, unfortunatly the scales have got a fault on them when they are turned on so I'm just waiting for the replacement to arrive!
-
George,
Couldn't agree more, my set up allows the same accuracy, but the automated speed of this is impressive.
It does look a really good and accurate set up but its the price of the Sartorious 503GD scales which is the killer and makes me wonder if the price makes it better than my tuned scales and target master? (for my use anyway)
Either way its a nice bit of kit John.

Go on Swaro get one ordered you know you want to, it will be the best £170 you'll spend this side of Christmas!!

Nothing like a bit of theorising to provide some Gbalance.
What about in real terms bearing in mind that this thread is all about Lubo's excellent annealing machine.
How about some reality rather than theory Mr Gbal - how do you anneal your cases? Do you anneal your cases? Which machine to you own/use?
Come on, do tell ... ... ...
Quite right Rob.
-
Great piece of equipment and extremly well made, worth every penny.
-
Mine turned up today, very pleased with the machine and the quality of Lubos work.
-
We're using this one as recommended by Binnzy - finding it fine.
Also available from B&Q.
Thanks Rob.

What torch are you guys using with Lubo's machine?

Sportsmanguncentre. I sent one back for repair via SGC. All went very smoothly and I paid not one shiny coin!.
I'm betting many hundreds of shiny coins will need to change hands for a ret change!!

They won't ever be exact for every scenario as you quite rightly point out.
However you do the calculations for a given set of variables and produce the wrap based on what markings you want, there isn't any ballistic calculation in the production. It's all pre-production.
As someone else suggested above, you could get some additional turrets and build wraps for a range of scenarios, which is exactly what I am hoping to do.
If you get chance could you please clarify the calculations required, I've as Hunter686 suggests but they still don't match up!
Many thanks
Andy

I use a 22BR but if your not going to reload I'd go for a 22-250 good flat shooting and hard hitting but most importantly a good selection of ammo should be readily available.

I found doing the pie to 3 decimal places worked best. Same goes for your grid spacing. Remember Nf are American so they will be dealing in imperial so if you take a metric measurement and its a wierd number like 32.98 then double check and go with it, don't round it no matter how close it seems to a whole number because if you check the imperial measurement it most likely will be a whole number.
My first attempt i missed the 3 decimal ie. 0.008 of a mm and i ended up .16 out over the length of the wrap, enough to throw it out.
Best of luck
Ok thanks, so how did you arrive at the number for the x and y grid spacing?

I'll try and add this to the tutorial tomorrow :-)
Any other requests for how to do things?
Great tutorial but how do you get the hash marks in qcad to line up exactly with the ones on your turrets?
I've managed to do it via trial, error and printing half a rain forest just by slightly adjusting the x and y settings in drawing preference / grid until they line up but there must be an easier way? My scopes are March and NF .125 MOA

£170 delivered sounds very good value.

baby fox is so cute!
It's not a baby, it's a cub.

I suspect Alfimarley is long gone!

In the past Cheshire have had a fair bit of criticism for being very slow at turning licences around. Credit where credit is due this time they turned my variation around in about a week! ??
Has anyone else got the "new style" FAC? On mine now there's no table for the amount of ammo you can purchase, there's just a table for the amount of ammo you can possess, presumably this covers both purchase and possession? I tried to ring them yesterday to clarify but couldn't get through.

The point is I enjoy it and it makes me happy, I can spend as much time as I like on the local farm and using subs it doesn't disturb anyone. I live 10 mins away and it gives me something to do which I enjoy.
There doesn't need t be anything more to it than that Andy
Being a former toolmaker the die is an interesting piece of engineering, I will enjoy appraising it and will say what I think in a straightforward and honest way that might be of use to other with a similar interest.
Al, I was thinking more of spending hours on end putting holes in bullets rather than shooting!! Like you I shoot many 100's if not 1000's of rabbits each year with work, spending time preping rimmy ammo seems pointless when there's loads of readily available subsonic HP's out there.
I'll look forward to hearing how you get on with it and reading your report.
-
Seems like an awful lot of work and buggering about just to shoot rabbits......... or am I missing the point!?

Have you got a decent version of the 'Row-row-row' call? I've got one, but the fox sounds about two miles away...
Haha that's the one I've got with what sounds like the wind blowing through the trees!
-
Just wondering if it would be possible to set something up on here where we could swap call sounds? Not got the vixen on heat call but I've got plenty of others I'd be willing to share......thoughts

thats a cracking set up ,you sorted a load yet
I've settled on 29.4gn of Varget with a 75gn A Max which is giving me 3146fps.
Later I'll try a load for 55gn Nosler BT's.
Cheers Andy

Here's my new girl, some of you will have seen her semi naked when Baldie put some pictures up when he had finished her.
She's now fully dressed with an Atlas bipod, MarchX 5-50x56, and a OLC moderator.
Calibre is .22BR
New Powder Trickler Works Well

Should have been with the TNT driver today when he picked the faulty ones up but it didn't happen! They've assured me it will be here tomorrow.
The trickler is a very very well made piece of kit, hope it works as well as it looks.
Not sure why but it managed to sneek through customs without getting noticed which always makes me feel better
