7-08 Borden

Finished this last week, and only just sorted the damned photo bucket out.

This is a Borden Alpine action, fitted with a sassen 20" blank and chambered in 7-o8.

The owner wanted a stalking rifle but with a decent diameter barrel. It tips the scales at just under 8lbs.

The barrel is fluted and threaded m18 x 1 with an invisible cap, then the whole barrelled action was bead blasted.

The stock is a McMillan game scout [i think its called ] and has an A5 style grip on a sporter. Its very nice indeed, and I plan to keep a couple of these in for stock.

Unusually for McMillan, its either painted or dipped.

Into that went a third eye DBM and a 5 round magazine. Despite being bedded all the way through, the weight is still very good, and doesn't feel as heavy as it actually is.

Trigger is a Timney calvin elite, and the rail is 20MOA.

It also has an A-tec Hertz mod, again, chosen to keep the weight down.

Another gun I wanted to keep.

Its odd how carrying a "surplus" 3lbs on your gut for a few hours is unnoticeable but if your rifle suddenly weighed that much more you'd moan like hell by lunch time :)

My stock response to those naysayers that tell me guns are too heavy -> 2 pounds on my gun is of more use than the 2 stones on their gut. Pleasant chap in my old age...
